Food was good. People were nice here. I have been to other Malaysian restaurants but this one the Chaw Guo Tiao was better. We ordered a few different dishes and we quite liked them. Not bad.
We finally tried Arum’a. It was truly a delight to savour home-cooked Malaysian cuisine after a long day at work. For someone who adores beef rendang, I must say this is one of the finest rendangs we've ever tried. The beef was cooked to perfection—so tender that it practically melted in our mouths, and packed with rich flavours, while the side sambal provided an extra kick of umami. Loved the peanuts, too! We were equally delighted with the Mee Goreng and Tofu salad! The Malaysian coffee was also a delectable treat. The staff were exceptionally warm and welcoming. The ambiance of the place was cosy and charming! We appreciate a restaurant that shares a story, a culinary heritage, and traditions. We will certainly recommend Arum’a and come back to try some more food!
Went there especially because they advertised themselves as an authentically Malaysian restaurant. I ordered the Assam fish curry and nothing could be further than the truth. The curry was bland and uninteresting, even the fish was not proper fresh fish used in Malaysian cooking. Instead they served processed, battered fish cubes & veges such as the ones sold in the frozen foods aisle at the supermarkets.nnWe also ordered roti canai and this was also clearly out of a packet instead of home made. The gravy that went with it was substandard too.nnThe truth is, people who have tasted genuine Malaysian food will realise that A’ruma has failed to meet the standards. Instead it’s more like a rip take of it.nnDon’t misguide your customers by representing yourself as a genuinely Malaysian eatery because you’re not. This is scam. Overpriced too.nnDon’t waste your money here. There are other Malaysian restaurants in Auckland that offer a much more decent gastronomic experience.nnPlus they are VERU RUDE!! No need to lie about what they’re serving up because I’m Malaysian and I know better.
Food here is delicious, I’ve tried several dishes such as the pork wontons deep fried and the char-siu bacon bun. Also tried the Hokkien Char Mee which was absolutely delicious too!
We overall had a positive experience. The food was undeniably delicious. Additionally, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Speaking of which, although the space was small, it had a lovely vibe that made it feel cozy and intimate.nPrices were little high but I think it's reasonable, considering the quality of the food, and there was nearby parking available.nHowever, we found it frustrating that it took so long to order and get served.nDespite the wait, I must admit that the food was definitely worth it.
