I've lived in this area for almost 6 years and today I finally visit this restaurant. Have read the reviews here and there are fairly equal amount of love and hates so I had my fingers crossed taking my wife and kids here today on my wife's birthday. This was a Sunday, and time of visit was around 12:30 to 2 pm. Fair amount of customers but always have a few vacant tables left, so no worries about not getting a table when you get here. Three kitchen staff and 4-5 waiting staff. It was a pretty good experience. The kids shared and enjoyed a Hawaian Pizza, I enjoyed my Fish and Chips. Quite generous on the lemon, as most other restaurants gives you a quarter, but Tides gave me half. My wife didn't quite enjoy her Seafood Creole and she felt it was a bit salty. But that's purely because it was not her type of food and she didn't know what it would be until it was served. I finished it for her and I thought it was not bad. She enjoyed the wedges though. And of course the kids also enjoyed ice cream, which was a bit expensive but OK to have it once in a while. Staff was nice enough. Food was served within reasonable wait time and we didn't experience any 'cold food' issue like some of other reviewers mentioned. My suggestion for improvement would be the way the cutteries and serviettes are provided. They didn't come with the food like most other restaurants do. Instead, the cutteries were placed inside a box that was meant for serviettes, on each dining table. So first-time visitors would think that their table has run out of serviettes. I had to go near the counter to grab us some serviettes from another box that looked exactly the same as the one on our table, and I had to go to another table to grab a fork for my daughter, as there was only two knives and two forks in our box, just enough for me any my wife. This means staff can easily forget to reload the cutteries for each table. The other observation I had was the frequency of delivering food to the wrong table. That was about 2 out of 10 deliveries. Not a major issue tho.
Food was delicious, I loooove creamy mushrooms on toast and its was perfect! Fantastic amount of mushrooms and sauce . Have to go up and order though which then means food comes out and different times and the lady also tried to overcharge me for my drink, fortunately I clicked on and corrected her. Other than that, wonderful tasting meal this was.
Hello paradise. Have a coffee do some work and chill out. Tides is the place. Delicious food good coffee and awesome atmosphere. I highly recommend this coffee shop.
Very nice place, good views. Reasonable pricing for the area, wonderful got a local place for movenpick. Would definitely go back. About 15pp.
Delicious coffee! Beautiful eggs benedict with bacon. Although the benedict sauce could have been warmed slightly as it was stone cold which then chilled the whole breakfast.

The 20% surcharge is excessive. 15% is the standard surcharge. 20% just seems greedy and although the food and service were good this has made our group decide to not come back. Also having the doors wide open on a freezing day just makes the experience uncomfortable. Used to like this place but will go somewhere else next time. It's a shame because it's a great view and the food was quite good although the carrot cake was a bit old. Good coffee and friendly staff but freezing cold in the winter.
The newly refurbished Tides has better views than before the new owners took over and the layout is now excellent. The decor is smart and modern. The coffee was great but the food menu is a bit basic and seems pricey. My big breakfast was ok/average, and not a patch on the previous ones served here before for flavour and presentation. I think the new staff are still working out how to run things and we did hear a few comments from customers around us about delays in service and I would agree it could have been improved. I'm sure the new owners will up their game soon enough. Good for coffee at the moment and more space than before.
Never been here before , so thought to try it out with my wife and son. Food price is expensive and the food quality doesn’t match the price at all. For Garlic prawns, they used frozen shelled prawns, look like shrimps instead of shelled or at least tiger prawn size and a little bit of yellow rice. Garlic sauce taste terrible. This is $18 for entree small size. Calamari is ok at least is freshly fried, but salty also $18. Coffee came with long as ice cream spoon. It’s a dine in coffee cup, why on earth would you use a long spoon? Not happy with the food and service at all. As if there is no love to what they do but want to earn as much out of customers. Cafe is not clean and inviting, toilet is dirty, staffs are not welcoming and friendly. As if they have better things to do than serve customers. Won’t be back again unless change of management.
