Screen 1 had a very foul, urine-like smell, making it uncomfortable to sit through the movie. The popcorn was overly salty and not worth the price. Overall, a disappointing experience
I went and saw A Minecraft Movie and I still don’t fully understand if the cube people were miners, builders, farmers or if I accidentally walked into some kind of geometry awareness seminar. Every character talked like they were explaining tax law to a golden retriever. One bloke yelled about crafting for two straight hours while another man appeared to be wearing a shirt made out of shitty couch fabric.nnThe whole movie felt like being trapped inside a malfunctioning children’s YouTube algorithm after drinking three servo slushies and falling asleep on a beanbag. At one point a pig exploded or became king or maybe both — honestly hard to tell because some little grub behind me kept kicking my chair while yelling “THAT’S A REFERENCE BRO.”nnBut the real issue — and frankly what ruined the cinematic experience entirely — was the absolutely catastrophic ring stain left on my pants from the giant radioactive blue slushie cup. The cinema cup holder was apparently engineered by the same people who designed the Titan submarine. Every time I moved, the cup sweated like a pensioner carrying groceries uphill in January. Now I’ve got this massive damp blue halo around me crotch area that makes it look like I lost a custody battle with a toilet.nnCouldn’t focus on the plot after that. Was too busy wondering if people thought I’d pissed meself in Vmax.nn2/10. Too many cubes. Pants destroyed. Slushie tasted like windshield washer fluid mixed with battery acid.
I really enjoyed my visit to Village Cinemas Hobart, as it was my first time going to a Village Cinema in general, and also the first time going to a movie cinema in Hobart. The overall vibes was spot on, the screens were big and clear, the sound was immersive, and the selection of movies was solid. Staff were friendly and helpful, the place felt clean and well-maintained, and I loved the atmosphere for catching a film in the city.nnMy only real downside was the seating. There wasn’t much leg room in the standard seats, which made it a bit cramped for a longer film, especially if you’re taller or just prefer stretching out. It also doesn’t have recliners at least in the regular theatres I was in, which was a noticeable letdown compared to some other cinemas I’ve been to. Upgrading to Gold Class or premium options might fix that, but for a standard ticket, it felt like a bit of a compromise on comfort.nnAll in all, I’d still go back because everything else was enjoyable and it’s a convenient spot in Hobart. Just wish they’d add some recliners and extra space for the legs – that would make it perfect!
I had a lovely experience in Gold class. The staff were very considerate of my celiac condition and tweaked the food so I could eat it. I had an asian rice salad and It was delicious! My Cocktail was yummy, the seats were superb and the staff were fantastic. 10/10!
We went to Gold Class and asked for a glass of Pinot for each of us pre viewing and straight up the bar person said - “ just so you know I will not serve you any more alcohol as you’ve ordered a bottle of wine during the movie”. My husband said “I’ve no intention of ordering any more wine”. So rude - we were completely sober adults and I can’t quite believe he said this - really disappointing!
