Our regular bushwalking shop. All the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Not just out to sell you a product, they want to make sure that what you purchase is the most appropriate for your needs.
An excellent store. I came here to get properly fitted for hiking boots, and was very well looked after by Andrew, who was such an expert, and so very helpful and patient.
I've been going here for years and can't fault them. Really broad range of gear and brands. The owners and staff really know their stuff and great to deal with a small business. They'll take take care of you.
Great service, knowledgeable staff and the best quality equipment. Go here if you're serious about outdoor activities. The bigger stores you know them seem to be leaning to fashion and travel - not hardcore outdoor activities.
Might not be the easiest place to find a bargain, but the gear, knowledge and attitude in this shop is of a high standard- much more so than what you'll find at somewhere like Krapmandu. The manager Simon really knows his stuff. Cheers. Picked up a pair of the Bedrock sandals, pretty tough piece of kit.
Helpful non-brand affiliated outdoor lifestyle store. Get all you need for camping and hiking. Very helpful and welcoming staff. If your child is a scout, get your supplies from here, too!
Friendly staff and nice selection. I was there to buy a Scouts shirt for my child, and they had what I needed. There are other outdoorsy stores nearby.
Super great people and so helpful. They have now become my go to shop for all things hiking. They also have an amazing sales rack which is worth the visit, I picked up a 3 climate Northface jacket at a great price last week. Also purchased Le bent, Prana, Marmot, Outdoor research, Salomon, Black diamond and more items over the last year or so. They also get samples in which go to the sales rack and recently found some amazing Prana tees, again at a steal.
As always, Simon and the crew at Vast were helpful and a pleasure to talk to. We were investigating a few items today to try and consolidate our hiking/camera setup. We have taken a few suggestions on board. Will do a bit more research and glad to hear that we can get some more speciality items ordered in if they aren't in the store. But really. We were just happy to be able to walk around and see what was current and about. Getting ideas for upcoming hikes and trying to figure out what else we need in our kit. Great to stop by and feel welcomed and have experience and knowledge on hand. Thanks again Andy and Alysha
I don't usually do google reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. Vast Outdoors are the best outdoor gear shop in Melbourne's south-east and one of the best in Melbourne overall. What sets them apart from the other shops on the same strip and generally from the chain stores: 1. They are an independent retailer which means they pick the best gear to sell in their store, unlike other stores that only stock and push their own brand. This means you'll walk away getting exactly what you need instead of being pushed into buying whatever a one-brand company sells. 2. You'll get what you pay for. Good quality is reflected in the price. Unlike at other major-brand outdoor stores where you pay ridiculously marked up prices for items that don't hold up to any actual real, long-term use. 3. Every person working there knows their products very well. I learn something new every time I go there. The same can't be said for most other outdoor gear stores, where the sales assistants' knowledge usually extends to their ability to scan the items and print you a receipt. If you want to spend your money wisely, it's a no-brainer.
