I was made to feel unwelcome in my own countries consulate.nnIf don’t have a booking you will be treated like a second class US citizen. The large glass doors to the office are closed shut and they basically have a QR code by the door and a sign that says appointments only. The rest is for you to sort out.nnI was having trouble with the online booking system they have you scan and I waited by the door to ask about it. The young Indian security guard opened the door and told me that he didn’t know how it works and that no one else inside the consulate knew how the system worked either. He was more interested in closing the door on me than being helpful.nnAlso , the phone number for the consulate just forwards you to the consulates website. The website itself does not mention by appointment only on its main page.nnBook before you go! Really hoping my booked visit will be a more pleasant experience.nnWould leave one star review but leaving two because I was eventually helped by a nice female security officer when she saw how stressed I looked while I was just standing outside the consulate doors in confusion.
Whilst I share the same experience as those struggling to get through on the phone, email is actually the best method. If you’re after child passport renewals, try to check the booking system at 9am Friday as they open a few additional appointments at that time, one week at a time. They even let us bring an unscheduled sibling we could only get one slot when we booked as we told them in advance. Just had our appointment today - all went super smooth, everyone was friendly from security to the person taking our application and the cashier. They are trying their best with the resources they have. Once you book the appointment the experience is smooth sailing. Thank you very much!nnEDIT: we received our new US kids’ passports in 4 weeks. Very grateful!
I am very impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of the people who work here. I went here to do my visa interview and I was shown in promptly and was told clearly what I needed to do and where. The entire appointment was conducted very professionally and efficiently and without delay. Thank you for being so organised and efficient.
Called several times during office hours after hearing the full spiel and then hear they are not open, at 10am ? Very difficult understanding and hearing the agents - listen for 20 minutes before getting an agent and then 3 times consecutively I was hung up on ! The website is ancient and unclear…. Do better please ! It can take up to 3 hours just to submit a document because it locks you out frequently ! Confirmation emails and reference numbers would help a lot too and minimize your calls !!
Came from Brisbane to get our sons passport. We weren’t able to go up as a family as they asked me to stay downstairs with the pram. Another family went in with the pram? Wasn’t given an explanation. Didn’t ask for one as I didn’t want to get or cause any trouble. I just sat downstairs and wasn’t able to send my son up with a bottle either he’s only 10 months old.. I’m not sure what the policy that just doesn’t seem right to me. Poor boy was very distressed when Dad brought him back after the interview . But definitely not family friendly just bring the bare minimum.
