This is not my favourite hill to climb. It's nice and tall, and straightforward, but the two options for gaining the summit are a fire trail covered in loose gravel (which is particularly dangerous on the descent), or indulging in a bit of cross country climbing up a weed-infested slope. The views of both the Lanyon and Tuggeranong valleys are certainly nice though neither is particularly photogenic. The nicest parts of this Hill are found on the lower slopes on the eastern, western, and southern faces. It would really benefit from some better pathways as found on Mt. Taylor or even Urambi.

Really impressed with how easy it is to explore these hills around Canberra..good clear tracks and hilltops that give great views across the city and suburbs..lots of kangaroos which generally move out of the way as you approach..enjoyed walking there..lots of good access to the tracks with parking opportunities.

Tuggeranong Hill is a good place for a morning run. If you want single track things can get a bit prickly but the 4WD track will also get you to the summit. The 4WD track will also take you to other hills to the south where you'll get even better views of the sunrise. You can also head to the Rob Roy Ranges if you want to extend your hike or run.
