Friendly service. The food was good. I personally liked the confit duck and calamari. The cheese dessert came beautifully but was simple compared to what we had at other place.
We really enjoyed the food here! They done really well on every dish they served us. Will definitely be back
Was beautiful sitting on the Verandah and watching the sunset. Our waitress was absolutely amazing and made our night, suggesting drinks and helping with our every need. Meals were quick and delicious. This is my second experience here and do recommend.
Great food and a considered menu. Good portions for tapas. Catered to vegetarian and lactose free dietary requirements. Nice view over the vineyard at dinner time. Attentive, friendly, and helpful service.
Beautiful scenery. Extremely overpriced and re heated food! Unsavory! Oily!
We sat inside so we missed the Veranda experience, but it was still nice inside. The tapas food was great. Top quality, interesting variety, reasonable price. Building was lovely in a nice part of the hunter valley. I would give 5 stars except the service was slightly off. The man serving us was overly complimentary of every dish he brought out. And when you get a heap of dishes with tapas this got boring and seemed disingenuous. A simple name and very brief explanation of the dish and an invitation to enjoy is all that is required. I'm being picky. 4 stars is still a good score for a good restaurant. 5 implies perfection and service brought is down a peg.
Food was really good and quite filling. Service was a little disappointing. Asked for frozen Margarita as per menu and the young waitress snapped "We don't do them." When it was pointed out that they were listed on the menu she replied "We don't have a blender." No apology offered. It was a really hot day and trying to get a waitress's attention to order more drinks proved difficult. They spent a lot of time standing together at the bar area comparing photos on their phones. One of the air conditioners wasn't working and staff didn't think to turn on the ceiling fans to try and circulate the cold air from the one air conditioner at the far end of the room that was working. Hard to enjoy a meal when you're dripping in sweat. Customer service needs to be improved.
We hadn't planned on coming here, but we had been driving a while trying to find somewhere we could get in for lunch. And a good find it was. Located on the Calais Estate winery, Verandah provides a tapas based lunch. We had a selection of 4, for a couple, and it was ample. The food was good. The service was good. And the wine....yup, also good.
I had high expectations and was really looking forward to the meal. The view is amazing on the balcony. We used Groupon voucher for a set meal. I don't know if thats the reason or not but some of the dishes were not freshly prepared, and really nothing to be excited about. We won't go back in a hurry.
Absolutely disappointing food. The best part of the meal were the churros. $50 pp is far too steep for the sub par level of food coming out of that kitchen. Terribly flavoured pork sliders, over cooked seafood, and the lack of speedy service you can imagine. This business needs to rethink their menu badly or replace their chefs and kitchen staff. Definitely not going back again.
