One of the worst shopping experiences possible. Theres no price tags in the store, and asking staff how much items cost is an extreme burden for them, that they struggle to be pleasant about. The store only has like 10 items too, it can't be that hard to just know the prices rather than look up the price for each item. The very small store which had 3 staff, where I was the only customer, however, they just kept chatting between themselves rather than offer any assistance. I was in the store for at least 10 minutes looking. When I did want to purchase an item, I placed it on the counter and I was not acknowledged for at least a minute as they finished their conversation. Finally, I was able to pay for the item, upon which they resumed chatting between themselves whilst handing the item to me, not even looking in my direction. I will definitely be making an effort to make sure people do not attend this store as they do not make it a friendly experience in the least. And the store is super dark as well. Needs more lights.
Chelsea gave us amazing service today. She was incredibly knowledgeable and gave genuine customer service. Cant wait to try the teas we bought, we will be back!
I absolutely love this store! The second I walk in I find myself so calm and stress free The variety of tea is just amazing and the staff have great customer service There is always 4 tea flavours available to taste when you walk in which is perfect to find the right one for you I bought the cutest little strainer yesterday and the elder flower tea and I love them! Highly reccomend this tea store as it is amazing!
I was much happier with this store than the one on Queen Street in Brisbane. But, then I went back and got the staff that others seemed to complain about in their reviews. The Chinese woman I initially spoke to there was wonderful. I’d have given this store 5 stars if she were the only staff member. But, sadly, she’s not. When I went back, there was a miserable older woman who had an offish, stuck-up attitude and a younger woman who was a bit nice, but also seemed to have a touch of that attitude. Really, there’s no reason for it. The tea this store sells isn’t that great, even if they do decorate with gold accenting and put the tea in gold bags. Most of the tea here is mediocre, at best. I say that as someone who has been to Japan and participated in a tea ceremony with a master. I’ve also had about fifteen years worth of experience with teas from all over the world and have suppliers in China, Japan, and Russia. I am always willing to expand my horizons, which is why I was at this store. The mediocrity of the tea may be at least in part because of the well-intentioned, but ultimately damaging oxygen exposure from opening tins every five minutes to let customers smell the tea. T2 another tea store managed to find a solution to that small, separate smelling tins. I’m not sure why The Tea Centre couldn’t. Part of it may be because they think that they can get away with it there are lots of tea stores like that, unfortunately. I wasn’t very impressed with their knowledge. But the younger woman was nicer and more willing to hear what I had to say. The older woman with the attitude didn’t add anything to the conversation, except for when she claimed to know about a variety of tea she demonstrated no knowledge of. It was sad, really. Why even do that? If you don’t know, it’s okay. It looks worse to pretend than to just admit you don’t know. I hope the younger woman doesn’t absorb any more of that older woman’s attitude because she was otherwise a decent staff member to deal with. That older woman was miserable and really shouldn’t be dealing directly with customers. That stuck-up attitude was the same issue I had with staff at the Queen Street location. At this point, I have to wonder if the head office is doing this on purpose. From a customer’s perspective, it doesn’t speak well of your business, especially when that attitude coincides with mediocre tea and storage practices that even beginners would know better than to keep i.e. opening the lids all the time.
Lovely selection of teas for everyone. Have a modest range of teas for tasting daily which helps when your not sure which to choose from or if you're like me buy more tea on a whim coz it tastes to delicious. The customer service is always great and friendly.
Great selection of flavoured teas. Like literally hundreds of them. A wall literal wall of tea. I've gone in expecting to buy one or two teas and came out with six. My favourites are the Cream black tea with vanilla and caramel and the Stockholm blend. They always have some samples brewing. My only wish is that they would stock 10 or so of their most popular blends of black tea in decafinated varieties, for certain family members of mine.
Normally I would have given this place 5 stars however the service my partner and I recieved today was sub-standard and not what we would usually expect from the tea centre. When we went into the shop we were immediately hassled by a loud obnoxious staff member who was constantly trying to up sell us even though we said we were just browsing. When it finally came to ordering some tea the same lady grabbed larger bags then what we asked for then tried to up sell us again. This resulted in us getting more tea than what we wanted. Overall it was a really bad experience and completely goes against the normal chill vibe that I expect from the tea centre. If the same lady is there next time I will not enter the shop.
Lovely selection of rare ingredients and tea, Chelsea was amazing and Ofcourse I ended up with more tea than I intended to buy xD brilliant service, and would defined come back to top up on my tea stash
Great selection of high quality teas. knowledgeable staff, excellent prices. Definitely would recommend 10/10.
My first time here. The staff were lovely, seems a little pricey but I've yet to try the tea.
