Stayed: 17–19 December 2025 Panoramic Water View King RoomnnWe stayed at The Tasman Hotel for two nights before Christmas and had a very pleasant experience overall. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived, which really set the tone for our stay.nnOur Panoramic Water View King Room was very clean, tidy, and well maintained. The room size was reasonable, the bed was very comfortable, and the water view was lovely and relaxing. One small thing to note is that some distant buildings do have a direct line of sight into the room, though they are quite far away and not close enough to be a major issue.nnParking was available and worked almost like a valet service, which was convenient and hassle-free.nnOverall, a comfortable stay with great service, clean rooms, and a nice view. We would happily stay here again.
I’ve always enjoyed Marriott hotel stays as a Platinum Elite member but staying at the Tasman has exceeded my expectations.nnFrom the checkin staff, to the valet, to the staff that came to check promptly on the room when we enquired about the aircon. Everything was top notch. I was also unwell on the second day with a throat infection and messaged the hotel through the app for extra water bottles, which they not only promptly delivered but also recommended a nearby GP.nnLastly, we enjoyed the breakfast. Coffee and eggs orders were taken at the table, which was efficient. The spread available was modest but sufficient and tasted good. We had really good service on the two days we were there which made our experience that much more comfortable.nnSpecial shoutout to the lady who seems like the supervisor wearing a green cardigan today. She not only got her hands dirty by clearing plates, while also being attentive to our needs and the other guests needs, but also to her fellow team members as we overheard her offering help and reminding them to be careful of hot items. That was really fantastic and the sign of a great leader which is reflected in how the team member seemed genuinely happy to be working there :nnThank you to the team for taking care of our bags, retrieving our car from the valet, and loading the car for us upon check out.nnWill recommend and definitely stay here again.
A really great hotel with lots of character and history, but still very clean and well maintained. The renovation has been done beautifully and everything feels fresh and spotless. The room amenities were very well equipped. The only downside was that the room we were given this time was a bit small.nnBreakfast was excellent with a great variety, including Tasmanian specialty dairy products and cherries. The staff were also very professional, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful stay.
What a fantastic hotel this is.nWe stayed here 2 years ago and have come back here for 9 days.nWe have been so looked after with fabulous food and the staff are excellent.nWe just had the Christmas lunch at the hotels restaurant and it was amazing.nJust love coming here as it has everything that you need. The wine bar is excellent and the service is so good.nSo would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in Hobart .nJust brilliant .
I was thinking of giving three stars, but I am giving four thanks to the friendly staff. The manager was so kind that he let me take the bathrobe without payment.nnHowever, to be qualified as part of the Luxury Collection, there are things that leave much to be desired.nnAbout the rooms, they are ok, not luxury but very good. However:n- The switches lights, curtains and privacy work weirdly. It is good to have technology, but then it should work properly. Some of the ‘buttons’ didn’t work or led to things other than the action they were intended for.n- There is no bidet or water jet. I am not sure if this isn’t used in Australia, but that’s something people need in most of the world.nnHotel interior: it’s fine but underwhelming. Nothing luxury about it.nnRestaurant: It is an offence to Italian food to call ‘Peppina’ an Italian restaurant. And claiming that the chef is replicating dishes from his Italian grandmother simply can’t be true. It’s some sort of fusion cuisine that isn’t great. My seafood pasta was so watery that it was almost pasta and seafood floating on liquid. The pasta was not ‘al dente’ though I specifically requested this. And it was super small. The salumi cold cuts were mediocre quality — the ones I get from my local salumiere in Milan are much better.nnBreakfast: It was underwhelming, with just one type of ham, no fish in the buffet, just one type of cheese, and no hot food except for what people have in the U.K. etc ie eggs, sausage etc. And two things to be noted:n- I asked for eggs Salmon Benedict. They said they didn’t do that, but they were so kind to SEPARATELY bring me: smoked trout great taste, a toast, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce. I did not dare ask, but why couldn’t they do the thing themselves? It would take them just minutes more, and they could then indeed add Salmon Benedict to the menu.n- There was a hair in the food. I told them but I didn’t make a fuss, as all the staff were so kind and sweet.nnOverall, a nice hotel with super friendly staff, but not quite fit for the “Luxury Collection” I think.
