The brain child of American restaurateur Steve Johnson, the concept was created out of Steve’s 15+ years experience in the restaurant industry in America and a desire to bring authentic American BBQ to Brisbane. Along with his Australian wife Peita, Steve brought his family to Australia in 2004 to make that dream a reality.
Blue Smoke BBQ was born and steadily gained ground and a loyal following with the locals of New Farm and many others looking for classic American cuisine. Buffalo chicken wings, Texas Beef Ribs and Kansas City Baby Back Ribs are still the main staples of the menu and offer new tastes for many Australians who have never sampled the flavours of old fashioned smoked BBQ. With a smoker imported from the U.S. to ensure authenticity, Brisbane finally has a BBQ joint.
After a complete renovation including a new outdoor rear patio in May of 2010, Blue Smoke BBQ reopened as The Smoke BBQ. Under its new banner, we’ve added some new menu items like Cajun Chicken Cee-gars and the Beef Brisket to name a few. After more than 6 years serving the New Farm area, The Smoke BBQ is proud of it’s new history here in Australia and looking forward to many more years serving our guests.
