Story

Live music, great drinks, and kai for you, the bro and the whanau. Sunny courtyard out back.
Hearty eats including lunch on Fr/Sat/Sun from 12pm.
All in all pretty good.

Great place! Very funky, has a indoor seated area for both non smoking and smoking with an addition of outside seating for summer. You will be nice and warm in winter as they have a heating system for the smoking areas. If the bands to loud down stairs and you want to escape, there's a quaint upstairs area where you can still chill and chat with friends. Food came out extremely fast was about a 5min wait time for burgers and fries. They offer table services for both drinks and food. Staff were friendly and warm. Overall recommend it for after work drinks or a quick bite and drink at the end of the day.

Went to this pub to have couple of cocktails after Birthday dinner in nearby restaurant. Had a great night until we decided to pop into the Portland Public House. We have been to this place about a year ago and it was never a great pub, but an Okay place to have a drink and move on. We bought two cocktails, and after that we asked the bartender to mix us another cocktail and got charged over $30 for it, for one small drink. The explanation of the cost was that since the cocktail is not on the list they will charge it per amount of shots they used to make it. Bar attendant was not friendly either and seemed to be annoyed by having to explain us the cost. Not to mention his face when we asked to make something that was not on the list. Is it too much to ask in a bar? There was not even shaking involved, he just had to pour few ingredients in a glass. When we asked about what time the live music will start, bar staff looked annoyed and couldn't answer either. A smile or a joke would go a long way, guys. It ruined the end of our night out, more the attitude than the cost. Bar staff needs to remember that they have chosen to work in a bar and it normally involves customer service and friendly attitude. I don't think we will ever go to this place again after this. I don't want to feel guilty for asking for a cocktail or why it cost over thirty dollars!

Nice small bar at Kingsland with a great service and a good selection of tap beers as well... we had a pale ale beer and I liked it very much... good music and occasionally they have live rock bands at the weekends which makes it interesting... also they food was good and we totally enjoyed our time there...

Awesome little bar. They offer a great food menu along with a large array of drinks and an awesome little cocktail list. They offer a cocktail of the week at a discounted price also. A beautifully painted out door area and often live music as well. It's only down fall is its really too small inside and with live music or can become quite cramped rather easily. Bathroom is also located up a perilous set of stairs which could become troublesome for the more intoxicated patron.

Great place. It's cute and supports cool bands. It also has vegan food options that I never tried. :p. Kinda expensive if you like to drink a beer or two...
