While visiting from the States, we attempted to dine with our New Zealand relatives at the Pine House Cafe. 

The atmosphere was thoroughly unimpressive. Our hostess was quite possibly the waitress and the cook ... she seemed quite anxious that we were not ordering right away and told us that if we didn’t order within ten minutes, we would need to leave as there was a reservation for our table. We were the only ones in the cafe and were quite put off by this remark. 

I’ve left one star, as I was not able to dine, and don’t really know if the food was good or not. 

We ended up at The Walnut Cottage up the road a bit and ate wonderful food in a charming environment served by lovely people. 

Don’t waste your time at the Pine House Cafe

GREAT FOR ICE CREAM - BUT AVOID ANYTHING ELSE. Food was overpriced and tasted old and stale. Iced drink tasted like it came from a can. Beer was served warm - no glass - and unopened. I had to call back the waitress to open it for me. Eftpos machine wasn't working. Staff comes across unprofessional.

Terrible service. No atmosphere. Rude manager. Don’t get the toasted sandwiches... Way too literal. Very disappointing

Terrible service. Foods sub standard, no atmosphere, coffee very average to poor.. rude staff. Very very disappointing
