The Charrington of Chatswood

We could not have been happier. The hotel was so quaint, great staff and very friendly. The location was fabulous. So easy to go into city center only 6 stops. Nice neighborhood, about a 4 block walk to train. Huge shopping center where you can buy all your neccesites.

Paid for double room for three nights. Thought it was a bit tired but otherwise fine until I pulled back the bed covers and found head and pubic hair on what were clearly, used sheets. Pillowcases smelt dirty, spare was filthy and stained. Told the only room available was G5 which I was happy to take-more of an annex than a room. Had to argue long and hard to get Keith to refund me the price difference. Found a long head hair on bottom sheet. Blanket had several white 'stains'-origin unknown. Smelt unclean. It was made of polyester-wouldn't have taken much to toss it in the washing machine. At no point did the hotel apologise or accept responsibility for the state of the bed linen. Always some excuse ‘ the cleaners don’t wear hair nets’ . How is it that a youth hostel in Spain can provide freshly laundered sheets for NZ$22/night and a 2 star hotel at NZ$147/night, can’t?!!! Location was the only saving grace. Peaceful setting and an easy walk to the shopping area.

Nice and cosy hotel. A little bit dated but the price was matched to the stay.

My parents staid here and i visited them. It looked great. Heritage but also well accomodated.
