Amazing Grace Cafe was such a unique and beautiful place to eat. It was so cool dining in a restaurant that was once a church — the decor and atmosphere made it feel really special and unlike anywhere else. The service was lovely, the owner was warm and welcoming, and the whole experience just felt relaxed and enjoyable.nnI asked if they did sticky chai and he mentioned they currently only do powdered chai, but said he’d look into getting sticky chai on the menu, which I thought was really thoughtful and showed how much he cares about the customer experience.nnA really, really nice place to eat and spend time. Highly recommend checking it out!
We came as a group of 15 people. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the staff were friendly. However, the music was a bit too loud, making conversation difficult. Fortunately, sitting at a more distant table solved the issue.nnUnfortunately, only a few of us were satisfied with the food. I ordered the souvlaki, which was on special, and it turned out to be a poor choice. The chicken was cold and overly salty, the lettuce was old and bitter, and the pita was impossible to tear or cut. Instead of tzatziki, I got just Greek yogurt. The only thing I liked was the hot, crispy chips.nnMy friend ordered the calamari. The batter was thicker than the squid itself, and they were greasy and completely tasteless.nnIt's a good spot to grab a drink and listen to music, but I’d recommend eating somewhere else.
The venue itself is what stood out straight away, it’s set in a beautiful old church, and the inside is honestly stunning.nnHigh ceilings, stained glass, and just a really unique atmosphere you don’t get at a normal restaurant. It feels a bit special but still relaxed at the same time.nnThere’s also both indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice depending on the weather. You can sit inside and enjoy the full look of the place, or go outside for something more casual.nnI had the entrée calamari, and it was really good, fresh, tender, and not overly greasy. Definitely a solid choice if you’re just after something light to start.nnThe whole place has a really nice vibe. You can pay separately at the front after your meal.
My second time to this venue. Both times quite expensive though the food was well presented and quite tasty. On this occasion the lamb skewers were either tough or my dentures struggled to bite through it.. the first time I went to this venue, it was for Mother’s Day and in the new part of venue. This time it was to be drag bingo and were in the old partchurch. Unfortunately the drag man had to cancel accident, but it was lovely to see inside the original part of the venue. It is quite beautiful. It’s amazing how an old church can be transformed into a restaurant. There is also another room between the old and new. I think more of an outside feel, which again, didn’t appear to be in use apart to walk through.nLast night the original part was full of people. With there being 2 levels in here.. A bar and lots of tables& chairs.nThe new section has a bar with bench like tables& chairs. It’s worth it to go there to see the setup which is pretty cool.nI don’t know if it attracts big crowds normally, but it clearly did my 2nd visit there when the drag man was to be on, do pretty noisy.nI look forward to going back when the drag man is there with bingo…nI recommend you give this venue a try but if you want a peaceful & relaxing meal. I suggest not going when drag bingo is on..
Upon arrival, Amazing Grace immediately impressed with its modern atmosphere. A private function was being held in the old church building, which looked stunning and added to the venue’s unique charm.nnOur server was polite, personable, and knowledgeable, answering all our questions about the drinks menu. The beverages were served quickly, and the staff went above and beyond to create a welcoming environment—for example, they supported another table by bringing out a birthday cake and even joined in singing “Happy Birthday.”nnMeals arrived within a reasonable time. My chicken parmigiana, however, was unfortunately dry, and the chips were cold. In contrast, my wife’s beef medallion with lobster was excellent—flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented.nnThe main drawback of our visit came at the end. There was a significant delay in paying for our meals due to a bottleneck at the bar. The payment process created confusion, as customers were unsure where to line up, and the register staff appeared overwhelmed by the volume of patrons. Additionally, the bar seemed understaffed throughout the evening.nnOverall, it was a decent dining experience with standout hospitality and a few excellent dishes. If the venue could improve the efficiency of the payment process and ensure all meals are served hot, it would significantly elevate the customer experience.
