Temora Aviation Museum

About

The goal of the Temora Aviation Museum is to collect and maintain in airworthy condition, historical military aircraft types flown by or in conjunction with Australian military forces.

Story

The Temora Aviation Museum inspires the community to acknowledge the role played by Australia’s historic ex-military aircraft, and encourages visitors to learn and be inspired through its collection of aircraft to remember the efforts of the men and women who flew and supported them during times of conflict.

The Temora Aviation Museum is a flying Museum, and its Flying Displays are conducted by the Temora Historic Flight Club (THFC) which is a separate entity from the Museum. All flight operations are under the control and direction of the THFC Director of Flying Operations. The Museum is a non-profit organisation which receives its funding through private donations.

Each program includes a comprehensive Teachers Resource Kit with:
•suggested pre visit and post visit activities
•explicit Outcomes and links to Key Learning Areas
•outline of the experience components
•bibliography and a list of suggested resources
•worksheets for students

We thought there was going to be an airshow. But alas no. Nevertheless, the museum made up for it hands down. Here's a few shots to whet your appetite. Best to go to the mueum website for the dates of the airshows.

A short easy drive up from Canberra. It makes for a great day trip with interesting displays in both the engineering hanger and static displays (rotated depending on what is flying on the day) in the storage hanger. Spectator seating/standing area is quite good for both viewing and photographic opportunities (though one should get there early to secure a good area to photograph from) of performing aircraft. The food is pretty good too and decently priced (Coffee and a burger was as of writing this $10 total). Overall awesome museum which I've made multiple trips up to.

Wondeful display and all undercover. $15 each for seniors. Worth doing the tour. Caravan Park next door.

A museum where all the exhibits still work and are brought out regularly. Planes are flown regularly. To see iconic planes such as a spitfire in a museum is wonderful, to have the opportunity to see it fly is even better. The gift shop has some great items at very reasonable prices. Volunteers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable.
