Great camp ground. Flat open area with no fixed sized sites, so find your own area and pitch a tent. Can be difficult to find a shady area in summer or cover from the wind due to the openness. Fresh running water that is ok to collect and drink from the tap as it's from a bore. Clean flush toilets block as well. Rubbish disposal on site as well. Very friendly camp wardens who are great to have a chat with.

CSC (Certified Self Contained) Campsite. Great spot. Flat area just before the main campsite. It had been raining the week before and the main site had some very soft areas whereas the CSC was very solid and well drained, no fear of getting stuck. As it is for CSC only there are no facilities although the park has toilet blocks just a short walk away if needed. Recommended place to stay only issue is the antiquated Auckland Council booking system which means you have to call them to reserve on the day rather than via internet.

Great beach and grass combo, big grass field for families to get together without feeling crowded. The sea is great for paddle boarding and swimming. Safe for kids as it's shallow for a long stretch, especially in low tide. We love coming here!
