Sydney Opera House

Story

The Bennelong Apartments is a residential apartment building and multi-use complex on the east side of Sydney's Circular Quay. The buildings were designed by Andrew Andersons and PTW Architects, and completed in 1998.The Bennelong Apartments consist of three buildings. No. 1 Macquarie Street is the northernmost building in the development. It is connected via a bridge at its southern end to the No. 3-7 Macquarie Street building, which houses a cinema, restaurants and shops, as well as apartments. The southernmost building, No. 61 Macquarie Street, contains the Pullman Quay Grand Hotel and apartments. The nickname "the Toaster" derives from the resemblance of No. 1 Macquarie Street to the kitchen appliance, but the term is also applied to the whole complex. In November 2007, an apartment in the building sold for $8.4 million. With an internal area of 190 square metres, the price of $44,210 per square metre was an Australian record. In July 2015, a Level 11 penthouse in the Bennelong Apartments sold for approximately $22 million, which at the time was the second most expensive apartment sale in the history of Sydney and Australia.Site historyThe Bennelong Apartments sit on the eastern side of Sydney Cove or Circular Quay. This was the site of the first landing by Europeans in Sydney, on 26 January 1788. The governor's temporary canvas house was erected on the east side of the cove. Unlike the southern and western sides of Sydney Cove, the eastern side of the cove remained largely uninhabited in the early years of the colony; one notable inhabitant was Bennelong, after whom the adjacent Bennelong Point and Bennelong Apartments are named. In the early 19th century, the entire area was part of the Governor's Domain, though some commercial activity developed along the shoreline.

The view was beautiful! It wasn't too crowded, even for a Saturday. The wharf, right next to it, had a ton of good restaurants. They were a bit pricey, but that's to be expected there on the harbor. I love the view of the bridge, directly across from the opera house. We didn't go inside.
Very unique attractive place, one of the most famous names of the world. Really worth to visit, no matter like art or not, the view is astonishing and many iconic points to see. Highly recommended
Like wow the coolest place ever! First time at an orchestra and it was beautiful. I had a great time with my family and we got to enjoy tea and cookies before the show happened. It was easy to get in and a great experience. I really recommend checking out a show here if you can! The sound was impeccable inside and was something I will remember for the rest of my life!
This was a dream come true and a check off my bucket list. However, while it looks amazing from afar, ummm, the interior is very, very dated! Still looks great, but it has the 70s vibe, which is when it was built! It was still a great tour, but just being honest when I say, don't be surprised if you ever go and tour this opera house that I've honestly seen better elsewhere! But, enjoy it if you ever go!
The concert we attended was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, it was clear that a lot of thought and effort had gone into making it a truly memorable experience. The level of professionalism on display was impressive. Every detail, from the musicianship to the stage presence, was executed flawlessly. The performers were clearly at the top of their game, delivering a performance that was both passionate and technically precise.nnOne of the standout aspects of the evening was the venue itself. The space was perfect for a concert of this caliber—spacious enough to accommodate a large crowd, but still intimate enough to feel connected to the performers. The acoustics were superb, allowing every note to resonate beautifully throughout the room. The sound quality was brilliant; you could hear each instrument clearly, and the vocals were crystal clear without being overwhelming.nnOverall, it was a fantastic experience. The combination of the high-quality performance, excellent sound, and ideal venue made for an unforgettable night. I wouldn’t hesitate to attend another concert there in the future.
