Recognised as the leading private hospital in the Barwon and South-Western region of Victoria, St John of God Geelong Hospital was established in 1974. Located 75 km south west of Melbourne, the hospital provides services for the city of Geelong and rural Victoria.

The hospital has now expanded to 250 beds and provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services in a modern and contemporary environment.

Onsite diagnostic and support services include medical imaging, pathology, medical consulting suites and a pharmacy.

Recent patient for Total Hip Replacement.nAll the nursing staff were kind and caring and I felt safe and comfortable.  In particular, I would like to acknowledge Jeff, Stella and Paul for their exceptional patient care giving.  It was very obvious that they were highly experienced nurses and their attention to my care was outstanding.  They certainly worked hard on every shift.nThank you Jeff, Stella and Paul with much appreciation.nSue.

I took my friend to the ED on a Friday night, just before closing time – a particularly challenging time for the staff. The level of care was superb in every way.nWe felt so welcomed, and it was clear how happy everyone was to be working there, even as some were finishing their shifts.nI noticed that they have an appreciation station where thy write messages to each other, such a nice thing to do!nAs a healthcare professional myself, I would strongly recommend this place.

I had a fantastic experience at SJOG Geelong after presenting to ED. Each staff member I encountered from admission to discharge was lovely, caring, respectful and empathetic. The speed and quality of all tests, scans and results was amazing. I’m grateful to nurses Sam and Brendan, Dr Chris and porter Daniel for the outstanding care.

I went into ER with a severe infection. Was admitted quickly and after a cat scan issue was identified straight away and was admitted to a room.  The staff on ward 2South were always available to help when I needed. The food menu was great which I could order what I liked when I felt like eating - so much better than set menus at set times. My surgeon and nurses kept me up to date all the time.  My only complaint was the foam mattress was very hard and solid night sleep difficult. They really do live up to their Vision Mission and Values at SJoGnMay God bless all the staff. Thank you

Was in for day surgery as a private patient.nnAll the nursing and admissions staff were good, although there was a bit of an obsession with trying to cover me with a blanket.nnBill not yet finalised after 2 weeks , which seems slow.nnBeing asked to attend at 1:30 for a procedure that started at about 4:30 seems unnecessarily  early to me.nnA bit surprised that post operation data logging was still pen and paper.nnOverall as expected, so 3 stars.
