Recognised as the leading private hospital in the Barwon and South-Western region of Victoria, St John of God Geelong Hospital was established in 1974. Located 75 km south west of Melbourne, the hospital provides services for the city of Geelong and rural Victoria.

The hospital has now expanded to 250 beds and provides a range of services including an emergency department, day surgery, medical, surgical and maternity services, along with a 24 hour critical care unit and Cath Lab services in a modern and contemporary environment.

Onsite diagnostic and support services include medical imaging, pathology, medical consulting suites and a pharmacy.

I just have to share our experience at St John of God Hospital in Geelong – it was truly remarkable. We rushed into the Emergency Department with my wife in excruciating pain, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely looked after. We were seen immediately, which was such a relief in a stressful situation. Every single person we encountered, right from the friendly faces at reception to the calm and efficient triage nurse, made us feel like we were in the best hands. The duty doctors and nurses who then took over were absolutely brilliant. A special shout-out to Sarah, Sophie, and Erin – you ladies are simply incredible. Your professionalism, genuine care, and clear communication made such a difference. We never once felt rushed or uneasy; they took their time to explain everything and ensure my wife was as comfortable as possible.nIt really feels like the saints of St John are right there, doing amazing work for our community. Thank you again, St John of God Geelong, for everything you do. We're so grateful.
When I was brought into the Emergency Department at St John of God Geelong by my husband, I was in unbearable pain and feeling incredibly vulnerable. What I experienced next was nothing short of extraordinary.nFrom the very first moment, the efficiency and genuine care were palpable. I was seen instantly, which made all the difference when I was in such distress. The team at reception was so understanding and swift, and the triage nurse assessed me with such a reassuring calm.nThen came the doctors and nurses who provided my ongoing care, they were just incredible. I must give a special mention to Sarah, Sophie, and Erin. Your professionalism was top-tier, but it was your profound empathy and kindness that truly stood out. You explained everything clearly, never once making me feel rushed, and always ensured I was as comfortable as possible. Recent patient for Total Hip Replacement.nAll the nursing staff were kind and caring and I felt safe and comfortable. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Jeff, Stella and Paul for their exceptional patient care giving. It was very obvious that they were highly experienced nurses and their attention to my care was outstanding. I phoned from North Queensland to see how my nephew was on 2 North after having Major Ortho Surgery. 4 times I phoned not one staff member picked up the phone then when they did,didn’t pass a message on. My nephew said staff were noisy all night laughing, chatting all night so little sleep. As a Nursing Manager myself this didn’t make me recommend this hospital I wanted him to go too Epworth. This needs to be addressed !
