Been there to the emergency with a 4 months old that was unwell. My first time to the emergency. Checked in at 8.30pm. At 2am I was told they were busy at the back and it was gonna take another 2 hours at least. Then I was advised to go home and call a helpline to talk to a doctor. I was quite confused because at that point there was no one left in the waiting room. Basically it was just us and a baby boy waiting to be double checked after a scan. Seriously I never felt more neglected and mistreated. The nurse at the front Keith couldn’t care less. He was busier eating biscuits and laughing/chatting with the other staff members. In two words? A SHAME. Shame on you for providing such a poor poor service to the community.
I went to ED with appendicitis. I am giving five stars for the wonderful nursing care I received. The nursing staff, porters etc were just so lovely that the whole experience was positive. I was also glad the food was super healthy which would have helped my recovery.nThanks lastly to the surgeon and medical experts who saved my life.
Had my Brother there last week in the ENT department as his walking is bad three people ran to get a wheel chair and without that I don’t know how we would have managed.nThen by luck a young mam by the name of Bart could not do enough for us.nWe had to go to the youang centre make another appointment so without asking he took us there under the road and then back to the car.nI would like him to be given some praise for what he did and we appreciated it very muchn.nThanks Bart
I had a minor procedure yesterday which the team thankfully scheduled in last minute the day before. I still had to wait all day from 7am to - about 4pm before I could get into surgery as it was not an emergency surgery but urgent as I’m travelling overseas today.nThe nurse team checked every few hours for me as I was being a patient patient and once the surgeons had an available slot after fixing people that were actually dying and helping emergency C-sections I was helped by lovely nurses and porters to get into surgery where I was impressed by the surgeons and anaesthetists who looked after and fixed me. The nurses in recovery were exceptional and checked all my signs before I was able to be released.nI’ve visited a few hospitals Alfred in Melb, and in SA: old Royal Adelaide, Ashford, queen Elizabeth, Lyell McEwan and the facilities at the Geelong university were lovely, clean and comfortable.nOverhearing some of the other patients stories was a bit distressing but the doctors/nurses were very professional, calmed them down and gave them pain relief - as often they were not emergency’s.nIt seemed most scheduled surgeries were happening. But of course in a public hospital emergencies take priority. Emergency means you are about to die, and if not, yes you may possibly wait all day as we are in an era where we don’t have enough health professionals. But the ones we do have are awesome so don’t scare them off!nMy partner came in and politely asked for updates. Unfortunately with the lack of staff you do need to ask and not expect the extremely busy nurses/doctors to be calling you about your loved ones while you sit at home. Go visit them.
Literally have to wait 7 hours just for a maternity assessment and ultrasound result. Very frustrating. They are truly understaffed and requires more doctors and nurses. Doesn’t realise how tried or frustrating someone’s with baby inside womb gets while waiting. 1st review in this hospital not a great experience
