If you're looking for a great beach on St Barth this one is easy to reach. If you're visiting from surrounding islands by ferry it is within easy walking distance from the port. Hiring a cab to get around the island can be expensive - between €20-€30 for a 10 minute drive. If you're not a confident driver I highly recommend the cab/taxi as the hills can be difficult to negotiate and the roads quite narrow and steep. The water clarity at Shell Beach is amazing, so be sure to take your snorkeling gear along with you! If you have sensitive feet be sure to wear protective swimming shoes on the beach as the beach is largely made up of broken shell and can be rough on one's feet. Be sure to take enough water with you if you wish to save on drinks etc as the prices on St Barth can be quite high. On the upside beer was €1 a bottle at the local supermarket located opposite the port. Take plenty of sunblock! This beach is awesome! Have a great time and let me know how you rate your experience!
Beautiful secluded and private beach. Millions of shells as advertised and the water is crystal clear. Due to the many shells, bring water shoes as the shells will hurt your feet. There is a restaurant being remodeled nearby but if not there is nowhere to change clothes, so either do so before hand or use the big boulders on the beach to go behind, again there's tons of privacy on this beach.
One of the best places to catch a sunset in St. Barths
Perfectly nice beach, covered with cute little shells hence the name. Worth checking out for a bit if you plan to walk up Fort Carl and take in the views there, but far from a must see on an island full of incredible beaches--but if you want a location to see one of St. Barth's beautiful sunsets, this beach would be great.
A very accessible beach a 10 minute walk from the town. Ideal if you only have a short time here. It can be busy and tricky to find space. The water is lovely and clear. The beach is sand mixed with fragments of shells. It’s not particularly soft under foot. Some litter but generally clean. There is a shelf as you wade out into the ocean so prudent to be mindful if you have young children. There is a beach club/restaurant. Be aware that use of the loos in these places is not permitted unless you are a customer. Otherwise you have to make that 10 min walk back into town.
Picturesque beach straight out of a movie. Beer, spirits and great food steps away at Shellona.
I had great day at this beach, weather was great ,food was delicious and people were very nice. Def would come back again.
I have never been to these places. Why are they saved to my activity, and how to I turn off and delete this bogus information??
Extremely close to Gustavia. Water is just as beautiful as other beaches but the shells on the beach make it a little hard on the feet...guess that's why it's called shell beach. The bay is smaller than other beaches but you have enough space to swim.
Locals only!!! Loved this beach back in the late 80's early 90's… You could bring dogs but you can't anymore and they built all those condos and homes homes that sucks it ruined the vibe for for shell beach… my last visit was around that time…
