Took a slightly longer time to prepare the dishes, but they are all hot and steaming like fresh out of steamer. So I won’t complaint about that. Like their ice green lemon tea and the prawn dumplings. Slightly little in the size of the dish.
Shanghai Teahouse in Port Adelaide is criminally under-rated. The food, service, presentation and quality is outstanding in all aspects. Our dinner tonight was no exception. Chicken Satay Skewers which are average size, but the taste is amazing. Steamed Pork Buns, with the sweet soft and puffy bread, and the marinated and tender pork filling in between. Pan-Fried Pork Dumpings The Fan Favourite, which paired with their Chili Oil and Soy Sauce is amazing. On par for some of the best dumplings I've had in a Chinese Restaurant. Chicken Cashew with Onions and Capsicum, the Chicken was cooked to perfection, tender, tasty. My only personal qualm is that the sauce is quite gravy like, however my companion loved this aspect. Special Fried Rice, ..man, there's not much to say. If you want SPECIAL Fried Rice, and I mean special as in fantastic.. then you've got to try the special fried rice. This is just one example of the weekly dine-ins that me and my partner regularly do at Shanghai Teahouse in Port Adelaide. The Honey Chicken is incredible, always cooked to perfection, hot and sauced to just the right amount. I believe Shanghai Teahouse in Port Adelaide does not get the credit it deserves for a Chinese Restaurant in the Western Suburbs. However, keep that in mind for your last minute dining decisions. There are always spare tables, staff are generally always catering, the service is normally always prompt and friendly, and the wait times are average for a freshly cooked meal. The prices are on the pricier side for Chinese Food, although as the famous saying goes - you get what you pay for, and that is truthful. I have not experienced Take-away from this establishment, however my many dining experiences can assume that they'd hold up to a solid quality in all aspects.
Good customer service. But small dishes. Overall 10/6Food: 3/5
Very small servings especially for the price. We also questioned if they gave us the right dish as the spicy beef salad had NO heat / spice. The waitress asked the chef and the feedback is that the spicy beef salad isn't spicy, but we can ask for spicy next time ! Lucky we didn't question the supposed salt and pepper chicken that had no pepper Prawn dumplings were good. Overall not good value for money and we wont return
The staff we friendly. We came during a quiet time, so service was excellent. The salt and pepper squid and crispy beef were good. As for the all day Yum Cha, overall it was ok. Don't bother with the dim sims .Food: 3/5
Came for lunch alone after morning shopping. Nice deco and friendly staff. The Jasmine tea was fresh and taste good. I had the steamed pork & prawn dumplings, deep fried stuffed crab claws and pan fried chicken bao buns. They were all yummy. For the bao bun which stuffed with chicken instead of minced porkvery common in pan fried bao buns tasted better for me. Overall it’s a nice place to dine. Recommend!
The place was deserted as we came in late. We ordered a few dishes. Quality was okay but only the hargowprawn dumplings were up to our expectations. We didn't mind waiting for the food as they were cooked to orderFood: 4/5
Got the Pan Fried Radish Pastry and Salt and Pepper Fried Squid from this place. Both tasted good. Menu is extensive. Place also has alcoholic drinks
Meals where a generous size prices reasonable food not only looked good but tasted very nice and staff were friendly and helpful .
Nothing beats Shanghai tea house. Every time the flavor and texture is spot on. We first found Shanghai tea house in burnside, it’s always busy. Now we found it around the corner at Port Adelaide and it’s a weekly event for our family. Lovely staff and fast service every time!
