Absolutely delicious! We ordered pork fried dumplings, Shanghai fried noodles and chilli beef on rice. All the dishes were perfect! They tasted amazing and left us wanting to eat more, but the dishes were just too good a value! We couldn't even finish them. We ended up taking them back for a late night snack : The only minor issue was the timing of the food. They seemed to take a while to come out with a long wait between each dish. We would definitely dine here again if we were to visit Adelaide again!
Corner store in the Chinese market. Decent amount of seating indoor and outdoors. Usually very busy. Good for a cheaper meal. The quality and service is not as good as other Dumpling Kings though. Long waits between dishes, even when not busy. The tables next to us also had to follow up dishes that hadn’t been brought out. The Noodles with BBQ lamb had a very overpowering cumin flavour. I normally like cumin but this was too much.
Corner store at the edge of Chinatown. Basic Asian store where you can get a decent sized serving at an affordable price. Fried prawn and chicken dumplings were good, juicy when you bite into it. You can add vinegar sauce and some not so spicy chilli shrimp paste on the side. Goes well with it. Skin of the dumpling is more to the thick side. Crumbed pork with rice is quite good. Very crunchy and well crumbed. Could do with bit more sauce on the side. Rice was quite dry, would think that's the most basic component of the dish to get right..
Have been going to the same Dumpling King for over a decade ordering my favourite dishes, however had been sorely disappointed by how low the quality and quantity have dropped with taste as this had not changed within the past few weeks again after coming every weekend even though asking for additional sauce and meat, which was also charged extra. Originally, the Shanghai Fried noodles allowed either pork or chicken, however not only was that no longer asked but the amount of meat in the dish is less than a small handful of strings to non. Furthermore, the noodles main sauce is comprised of soy sauce, allowing the aroma and colour texture to sink into the noodles, turning them into a darker brown colour from “frying” the sauce into the noodles which was missing in visual and taste as if been diluted to making taste close to nothing. Even without the necessary amount of meat, veg, and noodle ratio to match the 15 dollar price, the true disappointment is not being properly cooked as I found a few peas which also meant they reused the wok without a quick clean further effected the taste. Not worth the price they set now. In addition, the Fried Pork Dumplings lost its original textures as it had been made in a hurry even tho being the last dish made. No longer soft and crispy, the dumplings were cooked in such way the skin became hard and chewy with a soggy skin inside. As a loyal customer of Dumpling King, I have been true to them for over 13 years but to see such an amazing restaurant fall behind their own unique food standard to only jump up their price ruins what was once a great dish to something disappointing. Until they redeem themselves, I don’t think I’ll return and I do not recommend the one in the city but the Dumpling King in Newton instead as they still hold true to the original dishes.
My family of three had lunch here two days in a row. We found the food is reasonably priced and very good portion considering it is in the heart of the city. Noodles/fried rice cost $13.90 and it tasted good - nothing fancy; just hawker style eatery concept for those who have travelled in SEA region would understand. My daughter and I are small eaters so we shared a plate. Would recommend it-- value for money and we didn't have to wait long for food - had the items within 10 minutes travelled during COVID when most places only had local tourist.
If there’s an option for a 0 star option I would give that. I wanted to dine in and there were plenty of tables available and without any hesitation the guy at the cashier said “by the looks of it we don’t have any tables available”. Customer service is 0. Below attached a photo of the guy.
Used to be regular here.. i always told my wife . When back in adelaide i should eat DK After 10 years finaly im back in adelaide and tried DK To be honest . The food seems different taste from the last time. Dan dan noodle supposedly freaking hot but this time just so so. The spicy wantoon still yummy. The fried pork dumpling also not up to my expectation. So i think this is the last tine in craving for DK.
There's definitely better place to eat in the same facility we left the pork buns and the chilli minced pork noodles. We're won't beback. Mince pork was all mushy it doesn't taste like pork mince, it's like soggy cardboard with a bit pork mince mixed in with it. The table next to us left theirs as well they just opened it.Food: 1/5
Delicious xiao long bao soup dumplings, we found the fried dumplings to be quite greasy but I guess that's to be expected if you order fried food! Menu has a wide range of items, not just dumplings. There are vegetarian options available.
Food was OK. Service was quick but not very friendly. Tables were dirty. Previous customers' dishes and food never removed. No serviettes and limited cutlery. They were quite busy.Food: 4/5
