Great company to rent a car from. Friendly and efficient service and very reasonable when we requested a variation to booking. The cherry on the top was to deal with the lovely Justine at the ChCh office.

The car rental was great, very tidy, staff very helpful, however, there was no mention or information sent through for the excess amount if anything was to happen. It was very quick and easy to book but I think they cut short the fact that client needs to know these details before they turn up to collect the car.

Do Not rent from them! broken down cars and complete rip off. We tried to save some money and all they had was 2 cars that didn't start and the last one they had was so broken down and had 140,000km on it. No USB and japanese radio. We tried to return it the next day. We were told they understand and they would refund us. It took many phone calls and 2 weeks and still no refund. We were told they would still charge us for 2 days even though we brought it back within 12 hours.  Just a nightmare.

Absolutely HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. Did I mention HORRIBLE yet? Well, they are HORRIBLE !!!

The van I rented had a cooker that didn't work which meant I cook not cook anything for almost two weeks. In supermarkets I could only buy things that could be eaten straight away as even something like cooking pasta was impossible.

The front of the van was hanging loose and was held together with some tape.

I was told the car was very economic, when asked how much money I would likely be spending on petrol when seeing all the interesting things on the south island (so including Abel Tasman all the way down to Milford Sound) I was told "Oh, about 200 dollars". LIES. LIES. LIES!!!

I was told I could freedom camp practically anywhere, which is definitely NOT the case, and they KNOW it. But if they tell the truth the wouldn't be able to scam to much money from people.

So all in all an ABSOLUTE DISASTER.

I'd like to say this to Keith the owner of Scotties Rentals: I know where you live, you can expect a visit.
