This op shop used to be one of the best around, with an unmarked bargain basement giving customers a chance to find the best deals. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Items are now wildly overpriced. Today I saw a pair of used Kmart sneakers for $28! They retail for $20 brand new, and are currently on clearance for $8. We also asked to purchase a kids poster which was on the floor in a frame, but were told it was “display only”. Sadly it seems they’ve missed the purpose of these kinds of shops…
I found this top on the rack being sold for more at Salvos than it sells brand new. Sales clerk said “I don’t make the price tags” and then handed it back to me to put back on the rack. Absolutely disgraceful.
The biggest Salvos in town but I found the items especially clothes are better in the smaller ones.
The prices in this opportunity shop are exorbitant, unfair and greedy.nnI was looking for food storage containers and found many plastic ones priced at over $20!nnIt became so laughable that I began to google the original prices of items there. Many times items were the same price to purchase new or even more expensive at the Salvos.nnI ended up going to Coles where they were much cheaper as they had a ½ price special.nnOp shops are meant to be supporting a circular economy, preventing products from going into landfill AND supporting Australians during the cost of living crisis.nnThey receive these goods for free as donations, to price them in such a manner is exceptionally greedy and out of touch.
Friendly staff and neatly laid out, but very expensive. I understand that Salvos support a lot of needy and vulnerable out in the community and they need money to do this, but pricing worn clothes high, even higher prices for old baking dishes/coffee mugs and again, high prices on the toys, is really not helping out those who can't afford to pay retail. My son picked up a dirty old canvas case for a Nintendo 3DS and it had $5 on it, should have been a maximum of $2. Plastic food containers almost the same price as new ones from my local $2 shop. Won't bother going again when in Canberra.
