Material Pleasures is a recycled designer clothing shop specialising in cutting edge Australian, NZ and international fashion labels. All clothes are in mint condition & represent value for money to the discerning customer with an eye for style.

We're delighted to be able to share with you our love of design and textiles. Visit us at our purpose built shop in Barrier Street to see our wide range of amazing designer pieces. Our collection caters for all ages and sizes.

Nice to shop with, not an enjoyable experience selling however... I have enjoyed shopping at Material Pleasures, however recently I took in some clothes to get appraised and hopefully sell. I received a call from one of the store attendants (who was very lovely) who advised of the offer. Unfortunately I felt that the offer was too low, and asked her to break down what the price was per piece. Whilst on the phone, I could hear the owner/appraiser in the background who seemed very impatient, rude, and was commenting that 'it was an offer for the lot, or none at all'. In the end, I sold a few items to them, including a handmade leather bag from Florence for $9. When I picked up my clothes that I chose not to sell, I saw that that same bag was for sale for $50. I understand you are running a business and you need to make profit, but a 500% markup is obscene and frankly insulting to me as a seller - I just felt totally ripped off. I ended up selling most of it on ebay and got much fairer prices.

I dropped a whole pile of good quality clothing to Material Pleasures for appraisal, and received a very fair price in return - far more than I thought I would. I have to say that the folks at Material Pleasures were very friendly and professional,  and a pleasure to do business with. I am glad that my unwanted items are heading to new homes, and that I was able to support a local business.
