Salt House is a unique dining, bar and entertainment venue offering a panorama of the ocean, marina and city on the waterfront in Cairns, FNQ.

Story


Salt House has been designed by renowned Sydney designer Michael McCann of Dreamtime Australia Design and the fluid space allows uninterrupted views of the changing colours of the ocean and mountains that encircle the city.

Salt House offers a space that is glamorous, funky, chilled-out, progressive, stylish, calming, lively and welcoming all at once. There are several facets to this standard-setting venue: a large Restaurant area with a custom wood-fired grill and open kitchen, an outdoor cocktail bar surrounded by flowing ponds and fire features and a glowing bar in the front of the complex which showcases local and visiting bands 4 nights a week.

Had the most amazing vegan meal. Very inventive and very delicious. The dessert was equally divine. Nice to see a chef whom caters to vegans outside the usual standard boring meal of salads, crumbed eggplant. Definitely worth a visit if you thrive on plant based
I went there 2 nights in a row. The place is amazing. Beautiful venue!!! Plenty of space, very comfortable and cozy. Great cocktails, good food! Friendly staff! One evening live music, the next dj. I definitely recommend this place. I'll come again next time I'll be in cairns and will tell my friends about it when they come in town
We were visiting from Adelaide and had the most amazing experience here. Food was so fresh and flavourful, waitstaff were absolutely Devine and children’s food was such good quality . Highly recommended- we will certainly be visiting again!

Act like it.” The views are unreal, the breeze is perfect for tropical weather, and the whole place feels custom-built to elevate your mood.nnThe food? Bright, bold, fresh. We had the ceviche and the charcuterie board and both were absolute stars. The drinks? Cold, gorgeous, and crafted like they’re auditioning for your Instagram. The piña coladas were easily among the best in Cairns Flamingo Tiki is the only real competition.nnThe staff moves like they were born to do hospitality, making everything smooth, warm, and effortless. Salt House doesn’t just serve dinner. It serves a whole vibe. This is one of those places you plan to return to before you even leave town.nnOne tip: make a reservation. There was a large party the night we visited, so we sat outside, but honestly the outdoor seating is so comfy and romantic it felt like a win.
The food was delicious; you can tell they use top-quality ingredients. The ceviche was amazing and the wagyu skewers were really good. However, the sashimi and the beef tataki seemed a bit overcooked to me. The king prawns were flavourless and ultra hot.nMy overall opinion is that they put a lot of effort into making everything so ostentatious, when I strongly believe sometimes less is more. Not to mention the high prices considering the tiny portions.nnService was really good, it just seemed a bit strange they don't leave the wine bottle and water bottle at the table.
