Story

Salt House has been designed by renowned Sydney designer Michael McCann of Dreamtime Australia Design and the fluid space allows uninterrupted views of the changing colours of the ocean and mountains that encircle the city.

Salt House offers a space that is glamorous, funky, chilled-out, progressive, stylish, calming, lively and welcoming all at once. There are several facets to this standard-setting venue: a large Restaurant area with a custom wood-fired grill and open kitchen, an outdoor cocktail bar surrounded by flowing ponds and fire features and a glowing bar in the front of the complex which showcases local and visiting bands 4 nights a week.

Edit: dropped a star because the staff weren't so happy when we left (without tipping?) 

Lovely wait staff. Wonderful, flavoursome food. A little pricey, but that is expected. Jana and Anna were very helpful in taking our orders. Would definitely come back.

Excellent food! Beautiful view of the harbor and boats. There has been live music each night we've been there, and a nice grassy area to sit outside with a beer or cocktail and relax and listen. Good service and wine recommendations.

Always a fun place to visit, loved the sleeping bed sittings! Food and bread was also nice. Hope there will be more high quality restaurants and bars in Cairns!

Excellent menu delivered quickly, presented really well too. Huge range of drinks available, friendly staff with great manners and good table service. This place offers fine dining, indoor bar and outdoor bar too.

The food here is terrific and the setting on the edge of the marina is fantastic. It's not the cheapest place in town but go for lunch in the restaurant as at $20 for a main and a glass of wine it really is good value. Limited lunch special choices but a good variety.  I had coconut crumbed reef fish and a great coleslaw and fries. Some days the bar area has half price tapas style dishes which are great for a long, lazy lunch with friends. Terrific setting in tropical outdoor style and staff are very friendly.
