Sakim Bento

I happened to drop in this Sushi Bar as it was noticeable at the entrance of Esplanade street in Kaikoura. Food was delicious and authentic in terms of its material and delicate mix of rice and other stuff like seafood. The lady working there was an owner and seems to know this business quite much as we found from brief chats. As a matter of fact, we were told that she has been around here for 7 years and also owns a similar sushi bar in Blenheim for 2 decades. We enjoyed various home made food there with warm soups. We were also happy to get confirmed of her professionalism in running such Sushi bars in New Zealand.

Simply the worst sushi I've ever had. Rice was well overcooked and the fillings were revolting. The Rolls had next to no structural integrity and it appears that little to no time or care had been taken in making them. I also found the lady behind the counter to be incredibly rude to both myself and others in the store. Pro tip. If your going to stack boxes of sushi on top of each other , a sign that you like to tell everyone about that says words to the effect of "decide then touch (the sealed boxes of sushi)" isn't exactly the most logical idea. Had the food however been vaguely palletable , the pricing would have been reasonable.

This shop has many delicious type of sushi! Have a happy hour (half price time) Come and get it!!!

This was rated 1 star because there is no option to give it 0 star. If I could, I would definitely have rated this crappy place a 0. Worst sushi bento I have ever had in New Zealand. Lady manning the counter was rude, grumpy and unresponsive when I tried to make small talk. Sushi here was horrible, almost an insult to the ones done in Japan. Lady behind the counter - you gotta buck up if you want to stay in business. I will never ever go back to this place even if the food was free.
