Neat place to dine in. We were the only two people dining on the day I visited last, but then again, it was early/mid afternoon after a long day in Christchurch. Very nice inside, and the steak I had was *huge* - I could barely finish it, and it was very tasty. Definitely going back there next time I'm in Ashburton

My usual haunt when I visit Ashburton, however after this visit I am not too sure. It was very uncomfortable. It was stifling outside at 32 degrees, inside it was hot, fans doing nothing to cool the place. Sweat was a constant enemy whilst I was here. The food lacked soul. Entree of shrimp with garlic aioli and blue vein cheese as a dip. Presentation was ghastly. Board with a metal dish which was half filled with golden shrimp. Felt as if you were being ripped off. Change the dish and make your shrimp the star. Dress the board up. The dipping cream was ok - I discovered the chunk of blue vein cheese in the bottom after I had eaten the shrimp. The shrimp were golden and hot and plentiful. They were moist. Top shelf steak with wedges, egg and onion gravy. I ordered a side salad to go with it for an extra 5$. Steak was ok. However it was served atop of the wedges and the gravy over the top of this. Made the wedges soft and horrible. There were only nine wedges. The egg was cooked well. The salad again in a metal bowl. Did not appear to have a dressing. There was no cucumber, tomato. The onion was white onion and bitter for the salad. The red thing on top is a deformed part of a capsicum. I want to look at a meal and go wow that looks delicious. Alas this meal did not. Not one person asked me about the meal. Parking on site. Indoor and outdoor area. Bar area and restaurant area. Front entrance cluttered.

It has gone down hill . Use to be great but they do not have beer batter fish anymore . Very disappointed

Service abit slack but the waitress may have been new. Not a lot of choice on menu. What we had was good. Decent servings.
