Small venue with good sight lines to the stage. Sound is good but not great. The fact you can be 2 meters away from the artist is a big plus.
Nice reggae bar with funky layout and music. There's a dance floor/nightclub hidden inside the bar further end. Its eerily cool. Its definitely the alternative, where you can lose yourself on the dance floor and no one cares about it. Check it out! Drinks are pretty cheap too but doesn't feel so clean inside.
As the name implies, a good hidden spot for chilling out with friends. I particular like the diner-styled U-shaped sofa seats where you can sit cosy in a group and have endless chats over reasonably priced drinks. The noise level is not too disruptive for conversations. I've never seen the place completely filled but it never seems empty, always warm and welcoming, partly due to the ambience and partly the friendly staff. Would visit again, especially when the location is so central and convenient.
Had their jerk chicken/pork plates with some friends; it's all right. Not amazing, but not bad, either. They give you a healthy amount of slaw with the plates, which I appreciate a lot - I like vegetables. The coconut rice, though, I didn't taste any coconut. Their shoestring fries are nice and crunchy, which are nice. I did like the diner-style booths, which feel cozier than having a bunch of tables though they have those, too.
This place is incredibly hit and miss. If there is a cover charge, I'd recommend sending one person in first to scout because I've seen a bunch of people pay only to go inside to terrible music in an empty club. Last time I was there, I lasted 10 minutes most of which was taken up by the DJ screaming into the microphone wanting people to huddle in for a photo in front of the decks followed by him screaming out telling people not to leave which probably made more people leave.
Get yo'self over here and have a dance. Lots of well-dressed people will be dancing on the floor near the main entrance. Get a booth if you want to just talk with your friends. Not sure that the cocktail jugs are the best of value / flavours, better to go with a more conventional drink. Out the back in the actual paid club area is a sweaty, bold dance floor. There's nothing else to do there.
Amercian style food of hamburgers, hot dogs and of a great culture with it's music, always packed in this little joint full of happy and cheerful people, and those who randomly want to dance. Great place for gatherings for friends or just anyone who just wants to have a little feed somewhere different
I went on an old school RnB night the first time I went here and it was pretty awesome. Trying to get to the bar was more of a hassle than I am normally used to but a great place nonetheless. The small back room where my friend launched his band's first EP second time I went is dark and set out differently enough that it feels like a different club.
Coachella event: at the entrance, bouncers where disrispectful and they tried to touch my ass and after got me waiting like 20 min with no one else in the queue and to be honest the party sucks tonight supposed to be inspired in coachella’s festival but was completely lame and boring. Personally I won’t recommend this place, even the drinks dont have any alcohol it’s just a trick of cocktails and a robbery.
This place has a great atmosphere but is let down by a series of annoying idiosyncrasies. First the good parts - the Belly Bao food is really good - especially the soft-shell crab and beef baos. You should definitely try the sweet potato fries. Unfortunately that's where it ends. They insist on only stocking canned beer ugh, so the selection is limited and most of the beer is garbage. It's also very expensive - $10 for a 350mL can of Mountain Goat! Another annoyance is that you have to order your drinks and food separately, at separate counters on opposite sides of the venue. What the heck? Why? Moreover, both of these counters have a $20 card minimum it's 2016 how is this still a thing? so if you want to pay by card you have too order too much food and too much drink, instead of ordering them together to get above the minimum. So irritating. We went on a trivia night. The trivia was OK but not great, the prizes were garbage. The trivia started at 8pm keep in mind it's a Wednesday night - most places start trivia between 6-7. The trivia also dragged for a long time with large breaks in between rounds. Overall I don't recommend Hudson. The location is awesome, the fit-out is nice, but they need to deal with all of the annoyances.
