Absolutely love the getaway here. The environment was so quiet and green and untouched when I visited. The staff were lovely. I drove here from North Queensland in Winter 2017 and the best view I got of the entirety of the 10 weeks of my trip was the view over the lake from the breakfast table in the lodge. I will be returning again.

We had the cheapest room option, in preparation for abseiling off Gordon Dam the next morning, which was basic - but more than enough for what we needed. Fantastic spot with outstanding views from the cosy, wood-heated restaurant/ bar area. Nice place!

Great service. Good room. Recommend to check-in before 8pm because you may need some help (for us heater in living room does not work)

Great location on shore of Lake Pedder, and Southwest National Park backdrop. Bar and dining room overlooking the lake. Accomodation repurposed workers quarters, neat and clean but a little dated and with some sound proofing issues.

I spent 5 months travelling throughout Australia, staying at various hotels, motels, and campsites. I can definitely say that Peppers Wilderness Lodge was the absolute worst place I stayed at during my travels... Top 10 things wrong with this place: 1. There was absolutely NOTHING to do here. They advertise that they are at the doorstep for several wonderful bush walks. They are not. There are about 4 bush walks in this "area", all of them a 35 min - 1 hour drive from this lodge. All of them are for advanced bush walkers only. There is no town to explore, no grocery store, no nothing. Once you have walked down to the lake that this lodge sits on (about a 5 min walk) and complete “Jack's Walk” (which takes all of 15 minutes) you're done. You can drive up to see the Gordon Dam about 10 kms away, but then that's it. I don't know exactly why this lodge even exists. 2. No tv. For the $120/night that I spent for a room here, I would have expected a tv in the room, but nope. SOME rooms have them, but not all of them. I couldn't understand why my room didn't have one until #3... 3. The walls are SO thin that I could actually hear the people in the room next to me getting up in the middle of the night to take a piss. 4. The heater in the room did not work. It put out about as much heat as a Bic lighter. 5. The hot water did not work. The hot water obviously came from the main lodge and by the time it got to the rooms (a good 10 minute journey) it was tepid at best. 6. The restaurant was overpriced. $28 hamburger anyone? 7. No free wifi. If you wanted wifi to your room, there was an extra charge (about $100 for a limited chunk of data). For free wifi, you had to go sit in the lobby and even then the wifi went up an down the whole time making it totally unusable. 8. No cell phone service. This has been the only place in all of Australia that I've been to that Telstra did not work. I've been to some very remote camping sites and national parks here in OZ where the cell service still worked, but not here at PWL. 9. The room did not look like the pic that they showed online. There was no art work on the walls or nice lighting. It was just a drab room with lights so dim that you couldn't even read a book with them. 10. The power went off at the lodge. A small storm blew through and brought all the power for the lodge down for several hours. All of the guests had to huddle together in the bar next to the fireplace so that we wouldn't freeze to death. Staff didn't bother offering any of us a muffin or something for the inconvenience while waited and never even apologized. This place was just awful. I ended up leaving early. I would have been better off just pitching my tent up the road at Ted's beach. At least then I might have gotten a hot shower. This place was barely a half step up from a hostel, and in many respects, not even that. I don't know who these people are that have given PWL 4 and 5 star ratings. They obviously aren't people who have actually stayed there. The best thing that I can say about Pedders Wilderness Lodge is that it sure looked great in my rear view mirror!
