A very well-placed campground down on one of the top surf beaches in the region offering a first-class service. The facilities are immaculate, well equipped with everything you would need, plus there's a public kid's playground and paddling pool just meters away. The staff were fantastic, super friendly and always up for a yarn. The powered sites are very spacious. It's a 10-minute walk into town and backs onto the Opunake Loop walking track to soak up the fantastic views of the coastline and lake. I'll be back again for sure.
We've been making memories with our kids & friends here for 5 years now. Such a great place to camp, good, clean kitchen & bathroom facilities. Paddling pool & playground for the kids & beach has great waves for boogie boarding. Close to town & the lake & clifftop garden are a short walk away. Hopefully will be back for the next 5 years too!
Nice and helpful staff. We slept in one of the cabins - small, but enough. There is a fridge and a kettle in the cabin and some basic kitchen equipment you can use in the shared kitchen space like pan, small pot, plates, cutlery,.... You have to bring your own towel and upper sheet and duvet, or you can borrow those for a fee. There is also laundry on site - 4$ each. And possibility to buy detergent, but if you want to wash wool stuff, get one before the one sold is enzymatic = not good on wool.
Awesome camping ground. Peaceful and clean. No noisy neighbors or loud music. The staff are friendly and amenities are sparkling clean. We will definitely be back.
Lovely facilities, excellent customer service and very helpful with accommodating my 3 dogs which were allowed to stay in off peak only but greatly appreciated. Motorhome sites exceptional
Very accommodating. Rang we were going to be arriving a bit late and the management turned on lights and turned heater on for us. Great service and would recommend.
Opunake beach holiday park, you have been so kind to us. Most glorious weather, beautiful facilities! Best holiday ever. So much to see and do. Shelly at check-in, your beautiful, warm personality started our holiday on the perfect note. We will see you again Opunake.
Many thanks to Opunake Beach Holiday Park....a well appointed two bedroom Bach which can sleep seven. Nice large shower and good availability of heating and cooling. Very tidy grounds and friendly people. Many thanks and we'll be back for sure.
Easy to book, great service and friendly staff. Lovely tidy camp site and good swimming. Has Life Guards during summer season. Not too great for fishing tho and you have to go into town for supplies as the shop is only open summer holiday season. Good surfing sometimes too.
First class holiday and camping grounds, great kiddies play ground and an incredible beach which is generally very safe as long as you watch the waves and follow the rules and guidelines. There is an extremely strong and efficient surf life saving club, very active during the school holiday period and certain days during February to April when it is suitable weather for swimming. When the Surf Life Savers are on duty, at this time the beach is very safe as long as everyone listens to their advice and swims between the flags as there can be rips on this beach. Surfing depending on the tide and waves is all year round. The camp ground has great facilities, a minor shop but the Opunake township is 3 minutes drive on 10ish minutes walk away and you should pretty much be able to get everything you need for your camping and holiday requirements.
