of us stayed in the "Stucco House" while we attended a funeral in Oeo. It was perfect! The house has been refurbished beautifully! Very large and spacious, had everything we needed and more. Lots of fresh towels, body wash, bread and milk and a range of cereal which we weren't expecting.  As very clean and the staff were lovely. We definitely enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend.

We had a company function at the Kaponga hotel, and booked out the entire facility. I can't speak to the rooms, but the pub side of things was good. The place is nice and open plan, with big bifold doors which lead to the outdoor area. Brillant views of the mountain from the outdoor area, and the indoor / outdoor fireplaces kept us warm throughout.
On the food side of things, they did well to keep up with the number of staff we had. It was a mixture of finger foods, wraps and other small meals that we could grab as required. It all tasted really good and seemed to be in endless supply.

I am amazed at the kindness of the staff. My friend and I came to them with a very unique problem, and they immediately did everything they could to help, even more than we asked for. We felt very welcome, and were smoothly helped through what we had feared would be a very awkward encounter. 
Apart from that, the rooms and facilities are clean, and a lot nicer than you'd expect from a hotel in a rundown place such as Kaponga.

Brilliant place! So clean comfy the food is great and the owner is amazing! she is so friendly and welcoming and chatty.  If you are planning on going up taranaki like i did then this place is perfect
