What a fantastic place, especially with the hospitality and home cooking of Rosanne and Ross (and the dog!). You could keep to yourself, stay in your room and get takeaways but you'd do yourself a disservice. One nice thing is that Rosanne actually asks "do you want to socialise", so if you want to keep to yourself, that's OK too.

Absolutely brilliant place to stay. As I'm part of a forestry silviculture crew working at Motukawa forest, Tarata.
