One of the best caravan parks we've stayed at. Neat, clean and amenities are 10/10. Located conveniently across the road from the Artesian Hot springs. Would definitely stay here again if back this way.

Large, level, drive through sites. Pool with camp kitchen attached. This park has the best amenities block I've ever come across. About 8 large showers with glass doors to keep dry area dry. Shelves for clothes and toiletries. Hair dryers for general use. Plenty of clothes lines. Well run and well maintained caravan park.

We were three adults staying in a 2 bedroom cabin at Opal Caravan Park and I'd go back tomorrow, both to the caravan park and Lightning Ridge. The cabin was very comfortable - very clean throughout, with well-equipped kitchen, full size fridge, large bathroom and two air conditioners. If I had a complaint it would be that we were only given one hand towel, not one each, so I had to ask for more after a couple of days. One bath and one hand towel per guest doesn't seem too much to me, but there was no problem with getting another towel, so it's a small quibble. The camp kitchen beside the pool even has a pizza oven for guests to use, and I noticed in the amenities block that the showers have glass doors on them, so your clothes can't get wet while you're showering! The laundry was spotless, too. Although it can be hot in January, we were fortunate that it didn't get above 33 and the bonus is that the park was very sparsely populated at that time of year. We shared the pool with just half a dozen others. Each morning we made use of the Artesian Bore Baths, just 250 metres away. A couple of mornings they were very hot, even for the locals, but so relaxing, especially when they'd cooled a bit. Lightning Ridge is a wonderful place to visit. It's almost urban these days, but it doesn't take long to realise that not so very long ago it would have been a very different place. And you should visit the Sheepyards War Memorial on the Orange Car Door tour and have lunch at the Glengarry Hilton on the way.
