I must have been allocated an old room. It was in desperate need of renovation. Staff were great, location excellent and parking also reasonable.nnA few things I noticed that didn’t meet my expectations:n- hair in the shower drain cover and shower not cleanedn- small milk provided in fridge was left over opened from previous guest. It had leaked in the fridgen- no power points either side of beds. I had to move the bed to plug in a chargern- dust and wrappers behind bed side tables / bedn- sauna not working + no towels or amenities for pool/gym usennThe room itself was comfortable enough and functional - just in need of some improvement. Fine for a one night stay by myself. I wouldn’t have stayed here with my family…nnUnderwhelming experience for the price they charge. There are far better options in Adelaide for the same price.
The front desk service was excellent but not having towels changed for 4 days just because it was Easter didn’t align with paying $660 NZD per night.nAlso there were so many children and teenagers staying here that we never got to enjoy the pool, spa or sauna as these were overtaken all through the day and night.nThe bathroom is extremely run down and the water from the shower sprayed into the bathroom floor meaning our bath mat and floor were soaked non stop. The view is gorgeous and the cafes, restaurants, bus and tram locations were excellent to get around.
Very disappointing stay overall.nnWe recently stayed at Oaks Glenelg Plaza Pier Suites and, unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations.nnAlthough we paid for serviced accommodation, our room was not serviced during our stay and basic items were not replenished. That was frustrating, as these are the types of things you reasonably expect when booking a serviced room.nnThe air conditioning/heating in our room also was not working. We reported the issue after arrival, but by Sunday there was still no clear update, no repair arranged that we were aware of, and no practical alternative offered. It felt like the issue was not treated with any urgency.nnThere was also mould in the bathroom, which was really disappointing and raised concerns about the general cleanliness and maintenance of the room.nnThe property is in a great location, but location alone does not make up for poor service, lack of housekeeping, unresolved maintenance problems, and cleanliness issues. Based on this stay, I would not recommend it.
Stayed 28th - 30th Dec ‘25nnFor almost $500 a night for their ‘more affordable’ rooms, I was expecting a little better. The room was in poor condition inc. rust on the bath/shower floor. If you’re partial to a sleep in, don’t book park facing as the rubbish truck arrives at 6.50am every morning and does its thing for the good part of 20 minutes if you can sleep through it, hat off to you . Wifi is slow. Access card to room would only work half the time. Parking not included $30 extra per night. Pool facility dirty. Only good thing is location and the staff were super friendly hence the 2nd star. Overall, my son and I didn’t have a relaxing stay and won’t be back.nn*Thank you in advice for the generic response to this review*
A very underwhelming experience.nPaid a premium price, the room itself was nice with a beautiful view and it was clean but there was a window we couldn’t close and the wind was very strong throughout the night and kept us awake.nCheck in was disappointing. Front desk staff don’t answer their phones. I had my partner waiting in the lobby to check in and I called the front desk numerous times correct number to authorise entry but phones weren’t answered.nThe shower was old and needs a refresh. No bottles of water in the fridge and very basic tea and coffee facilities. No other options like hot chocolate or herbal tea.nThe lack of communication between the hotel and The Pier restaurant was beyond frustrating. Wanted breakfast in the room and as no one was answering their phones correct number I had to go down to the restaurant to order and ask for it to be brought to our room. I had to insist on the room service surcharge being waived in the circumstances but it wasn’t offered at the outset despite explaining the difficulty in reaching them by phone. I understand that the restaurant is a separate establishment to the hotel but that’s not good enough for hotel patrons. Management need to look at this urgently and foster better communication between the two. Hotel patrons don’t want to hear the blame game when trying to arrange room service.nWhen coffees arrived they were in takeaway cups which I’ve never experienced for room service. I should have just gone to a local cafe. I was also handed the plates by the staff member. I’m used to room service being wheeled in on a table with a tablecloth. Instead I had to go back and forth opening the door to bring everything in. No cutlery or serviettes provided either. No customer service whatsoever. Room service should not be offered at this establishment.
