Here's the sketch with this mob: they keep good hours, they're local to me and they have a good stock of chains, tyres, tubes, grips etc. That's the 'good' points covered. Bit on the pricey side being so far north in these days of online shopping but that's OK - I'm middle-aged so will always try to support local business and jobs... but you have to gain my respect first. SuperCycles have not done in over 5 years. I'd like to stress that I have never spoken or dealt with the mechanics at SuperCycles; the salespeople can be hit and miss though. My latest 'purchasing experience' was poor. The fellow behind the counter was efficient in locating the cheapest generic Chinesium chain way too long for the application ($10 charge for fitting!) but OK, there are a lot of cogs out there and why should they make them up to length when they charge the kids (i.e. parents) ten buck to fit them. $5 I would have thought was reasonable but that's me. Anyhow, when I enquired deliberately in front of my 'know-it-all' daughter, who insists that her chain is set like a bloody guitar string (and with no oil 'cuz it's messy'), as to what tension should be put on the chain, old mate showed an unbelievable lack of mechanical knowledge and understanding of the basics of riding abike... or did he? There I was seeking vindication for bleating on for months about you the way you need to have 1/2" slack on the longest side to which she scoffs cuz her boy mates told her otherwise. "Tight as possible" he said! The cycle shop guy, clearly has more clout than me - who kept several old knackers going when I was a kid, never breaking a chain once in 10 years in the name of transporting myself over all terrains and in all weathers from one car cleaning job to another. I cycled my arse off on very heavy 70's bicycles just as transport to from the age of 13-18 years and never bust a chain. She's bust 3 in 12 months... I wonder why? He's very likely the same guy who told them to put 60psi in the tyres!... so there we have it, gone are the days of helping the kids out, doing a love job, free-bee, giving them good advice. It's all about 'maximising profit'. I don't care if they want to rip off the 45-year old Michelin Men in lycra who can't pass a coffee shop, but giving kids this mis-information is just wrong. HEY, CABBO & DBAY & BURPS kids, no more bust chains, no more punctures, no more hassling dad for money... save $$$$$$$$$$ - loosen the chain, oil it and put only 40psi in the tyres! I'm a DAD... and BTW a mechanical fitter for 35 years... TRUST ME!

Pretty average mechanical work, and a little pricey.  Staff are friendly almost all the time.
