Melbourne Zoo

I was thoroughly impressed with the Melbourne Zoo! Wow! The zoo has been extensively redeveloped over the years and it is simply stunning to see such incredible creatures up close and in very natural environments. We took our two year old toddler who just loved the Orangutans and the Butterfly House. The giraffes and elephants are simply amazing. There are nice cool forest environments to walk through and the animals are very well cared for. They all seem healthy and content. We were also pleased with the options available for lunch with a bakery, a pizzeria, and an Asian-style and Western-style cafe. Parking was not too expensive, with the fee being $2 for 5 hours. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. I Loved!

Wonderful place with many animal's, good place for kids entertainment, have shops to eat and drink from place to place. Kids will enjoy a lot. Highly recommended to go and visit. Worth having look starting early onwards as animals will be awake. Good fun for kids.

We have been zoo members for years and frequent Melbourne zoo. It is a great day or half day out. The grounds are great and it has changed for the better over the years. After being to a few zoos in other countries I have to say that melbourne zoo deserves a mention as well. Pack a lunch, put your walking shoes on and enjoy your day!!

Expensive zoo... not many animals.. was so disappointed.. Melbourne take pride in everything they do but the zoo was bad.. plz have more animals... u have more staff than animals.. only thing was good was the face painting.. my son love it..

NOTES: 1- avoid going middays especially on sunny days as all the animals hide from the sun. Which makes spotting them nearly impossible. 2- Buy your tickets online... Saves you from a long queue. 3- the map they hand you is actually upside down if you enter from the entrance of the Tram side... Plenty of animals and great staff... They are all willing to help you anytime and explain about the animals viewed.
