Princes Pier

Story

Princes Bridge was a Melbourne railway station built in 1859 and was the terminus for all Epping line and Hurstbridge line trains. The station was named after the adjacent Princes Bridge, which crosses the Yarra River. Originally Princes Bridge station was isolated from Flinders Street Station, even though it was adjacent to it, sited just on the opposite side of Swanston Street. Some years later the railway tracks were extended under the street to join the two stations, and Princes Bridge slowly became amalgamated into the larger Flinders Street Station.

It's a pier. With photography opportunities if you are into that. Fishing spot if you are into that. Wide open cemented surface good for roller skating or trying out your new electric scooter. Little bit of history if that interests you. Be there for sunset for visual treats. There are plenty of seating options to sit, contemplate about stuff or catch up with friends with a good dose of fresh sea breeze.
Located in the suburb of Port Melbourne, a short tram ride from Melbourne’s CBD, Princes Pier has been reimagined to show a mix of what the wharf looked like in the past with a modern overlay. Ideal for sunset photos looking over the forest of piers in the water. There are some restaurants nearby but if you walk for 10 minutes to the main shopping area there are plenty of eating and drinking options.
It has a nice view during sunset, it is free to access
Beautiful out door meeting área, at the historic Princes Pier, now only a beautiful pier building, large concrete platform and remnant huge hardwood pylons, which tell a story of a previous longer pier.. Now a wonderful place for skaters, people fishing and of course those who want to enjoy or photograph the ever changing scenery... light, reflections, skies, the glorious sunrise and sunset colors.nMy only sadness was seeing large amounts of plastic pieces and fishing lines being thoughtlessly discarded, known as dangerous traps, entangling fish and maring creatures.nParking available on nearby streets.
One of the greatest places in Melbourne. The only issue is that unavailability of parking. You would need to find street parking which becomes difficult of weekends or nice sunny days. The views are extravagant. Clean and tidy with bathroom facilities available. Found lot to people fishing there so perhaps could be lucky for you if you are into fishing.
