Location is unique - an mc Donalds airplane... how cool is that???!!! Kids loved it. Service is very fast. Airplane could be cleaner. If you love McDonalds and want to have a special place. This is the place to go. Easy to access. Fun for kids. Top Spot Mcces we have ever been. Need to know: no table Service in the airplane, order and get your meal at the counter.
Definitely the coolest McDonalds! Worth a stop to visit the airplane if in the Taupo area. We grabbed the food and then walked to seat inside the airplane. From the airplane we could view the lake. The cockpit had a bunch of information of the plane history.nnThe restaurant building itself is modern with lake view. Clean toilets.
The idea with the airplane-style tables is fantastic very original and fun. But McDonald’s really needs more cleaning staff. Almost all the tables were very dirty, which is very unpleasant for customers. If they improve the cleanliness, this place could be great
Well it was McDonald's but the plane, the plane sorry. As you may know, this place is listed on Atlas Obscura and that's how we found it. Very neat story. Yes we ate in the plane, in December the plane is not conditioned, so plan ahead. We enjoyed the honeycomb flurry which seems to be a unique to NZ thing. We had fun.
I went her with my family in September, we were brought here by a local tour guide, he told us that this is the world's coolest McDonald's and it certainly is! The McDonald's has a plane built to it, and you can climb up the stairs to enter the plane! The tour guide said this is a real plane flown by pilots before, but now they cut off all the wires and turned it into a themed restaurant for McDonald's! It was really cool that we got to go in to the cockpit and see the pilot seats as wheel as the steering wheel and the many control buttons. There was many people dining inside the plane with their McDonald's burger and fries etc. I could also see the McDonald's logo outside from the plane window! Really felt so surreal... Highly recommend for tourists to visit!!
