Commercial ice as expected but kinda nice to sit at the bar and watch things get made. They also have cool names for the milkshakes... I tried the peanut butter iced choccy cocktail... not bad
Max Brenner’s is usually busy but it’s not too loud. The staff are friendly to customers. The food is very yummy, delicious, sweet and very chocolatey. The food is well presented. I really like this place because it is warm and it smells like chocolate. I recommend this cafe to anyone who loves chocolate.
Good deserts and chocolate. I'm just not sure it can beat Patagonia chocolates in Queenstown NZ
Understaffed and unhappy staff running around like crazy. Waited for ages to get served and it wasn't that busy! Very dissapointed. Staff actually running in the store. OH&S issue I would have thought. Very dangerous. Customers had to resort to cleaning their own tables so they could sit down! Ohh and the desserts we had were expensive and very ordinary! Won't be back.
A very long wait in a non-peak time. Surly and un-personable staff. Half the tables had dirty dishes waiting to be cleared. The only available table for 4 had dirty dishes. After staff walked past us multiple times, had to ask for the previous customers dishes to be removed. Then had to ask another staff member to wipe the table of old ice cream and chocolate residual note: a mostly dry cloth is poor at cleaning sticky tables. Fruit for fondue served in disposable Chinese style tubs. For a shop with premium pricing, a very disappointing experience. Furniture poorly maintained, table tops poorly attached to bases, in store signage damaged and in need of repair.
My first time and the place was a pigsty! This is outside the store, your first impression of the business and it looked more like a rubbish tip. Cleaned our own table so we would sit down. Milkshake was nice, however at $8.80 and it was pretty small...you'll have to do better to get me to go back
Worst experience I have had for a long time. Waited 45 minutes for a hot chocolate, when it finally arrived the waitress tipped about a quarter of it on the table. She then smeared the chocolate around on the table and when I asked if she would mind wiping it up properly she said NO! Ordered a dark chocolate which wasn't dark, but at that stage I had lost my appetite and left.
Great place, fantastic food and beverages I recommend the Italian milk hot chocolate. Has a nice look and friendly staff. Can be very crowded during winter months. When it is peak period the problem that there may be a 15-25 min wait on your order. The out door area is a nice place to sit on a warm day also.
I only give 1 star as I need to, otherwise I wouldn't. Shop was almost empty on a Saturday night and where told we had to wait an 1hr for a hot chocolate and a 2xlicks. On one side of the counter the staff fast on there feet and popping on the prep side they where slow and on drugs or something. The worst was the manager who destracted his staff more then anything. Do not recommend this place to anyone.
Disappointimg max brenner experience tonight at Charlestown. Was fairly quiet and non peak hour and staff told us it would be a 45 min wait which seemed odd. We were so keen for chocolate we decided to order anyway. Staff mixed up our order for someone else's and seemed annoyed when we turned it away. They started serving our proper orders within 10 minutes which we were happy about but wondered why we were told such an inaccurate wait time. Staff seemed to generally be in a bad mood. My soufle was stone cold so I asked for it to be heated. Took another 10 mins until returned to me burning hot and entirely cooked through which was very unappetizing. My friends orders were also cold and missing their pots of chocolate. Suffice is to say I won't be going there again.
