I'm not sure why the rave reviews. Have I missed something? I've been here maybe six or more times in the last three years. Sometimes we've booked for a meal, other times we've just rocked up for coffee during the day. We've always get greeted warmly. In winter we've been for two wedding anniversaries in the evening and have been really cold both times. I've worn fingerless gloves and kept my woollen coat on. They've got a fireplace but it only keeps those sitting in front of it warm and smelling of wood fire. The food has been average. I sent one meal back because the meat was over salted and the vegetables were over cooked. The continual opening of the door between the smokers and non smokers creates a draft, let alone lets cigarrette smoke in. During the day it's quite dark inside. I've had one hot drink were the milk was too hot but the rest were great.

Great location and ambience. Excellent choice of food and drinks at competitive prices. Excellent service.

We went here because of all the good reviews. However turns out very disappointing. The food was well presented, but the volume was definitely NOT value for money. Service was fine though.

Food was alright, though my cut of steak was 15% inedible grisslely fat, chips were chunky but dry. Also it closes down tomorrow as the building it's in is being torn down due to earthquake susceptibility.

Unique vibe. Definitely very Wellington. Good food and good drinks
