We had a really lovely experience at Marion from start to finish.nnThe whitebait sandwich was a great way to begin, simple, fresh and full of flavour. The baked pipe rigate with vodka sauce was a standout for me, rich, comforting and beautifully balanced. The chicken was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked and coated in a deeply savoury sauce.nnOne of the best parts of the meal was dipping the shoestring fries into the chicken gravy and even into the vodka pasta sauce. That combination was honestly so damn good and unexpectedly satisfying.nnService was excellent from arrival to the end of the meal, warm, attentive and professional throughout. Our only small criticism was around dessert. The menu did arrive, but after that we were left waiting for quite some time without anyone returning to take our order. When no one came back, we decided to simply settle the bill and head off. It was a minor delay in what was otherwise a seamless experience.nnOverall, a fantastic meal with standout dishes and wonderful hospitality. We will definitely be back.
I have come here years ago before it was very popular so I was curious to see if the quality still remains. This place is amazing the food, the service, the vibes. We actually couldn’t fault anything and I would definitely come back here as it’s totally worth the price you pay.nnThe pasta was amazing I thought because it was baked that there was potential for it to be dry but it was not at all!! The duck was also perfectly cooked and the sauce went perfectly.nnI will be back again and again as the quality has remained despite growing popularity.
The last time I visited Marion was back in 2022—before Melbourne was introduced to their now-iconic baked vodka pasta. Even then, it was such a memorable meal. Returning recently, I was reminded exactly why this restaurant has remained so loved over the years. It truly deserves the hype and continues to be one of Melbourne’s most special dining spots.nnThe atmosphere, both inside and out, is incredible. On a warm Friday night, the outdoor tables lining the street were completely full, creating the perfect lively Fitzroy vibe. We booked a couple of weeks in advance to secure a spot, which I’d definitely recommend.nnFrom the moment we arrived, the service was seamless. We were warmly greeted at the door and looked after by a consistent server throughout the evening who was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The menu felt perfectly balanced—varied without being overwhelming—and ideal for sharing.nnWe started with a Dirty Martini & Tonic their house special, followed by the flatbread with fromage blanc, raw tuna, and fried squid. For mains, we shared the organic lettuce honestly one of the best lettuce dishes I’ve ever had—the dressing was incredible, the baked pipe rigate with vodka sauce, and shoestring fries. The drinks and starters arrived quickly, and while the mains took a little longer, the atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy the evening. With nearly every table likely ordering the famous vodka pasta, the slight wait was completely understandable.nnFor such a busy restaurant, everything was handled beautifully. Overall, I left feeling so impressed by both the food and the service—and already looking forward to my next visit.
The atmosphere was incredible! so calm and chill, it honestly felt like sitting in nature on a spring day. The service was extremely professional and attentive, always making sure everything was going smoothly. The food was also very good and quite original. The standout for me was the Danish asparagus; absolutely delicious. The baked pasta was a bit more standard for a place like this, and while the meat had great flavor, it was slightly chewy.nnEven with that, the overall experience is a solid five stars, and I’d definitely come back. They also have an excellent wine list, and it’s a fantastic spot to enjoy a special moment and celebrate. Keep it up!

Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavor, clearly crafted with creativity and attention to detail. What truly elevated the experience was the wine selection thoughtfully curated and perfectly paired with the dishes we ordered.nnThe waiters were exceptionally knowledgeable about both the menu and the wine list. They explained each dish with confidence and offered spot-on recommendations. Our waiter, in particular, was super gentle, attentive, and genuinely helpful without ever being intrusive. That level of service made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout the night.
