I’m honestly frustrated with the constant bin colour changes and wasteful decisions being pushed onto residents by Knox City Council.nnFirst the general rubbish bin lid was one colour, then changed again, now changed back. Meanwhile recycling colours keep shifting as well. How many times are ratepayers expected to fund cosmetic bin changes that provide little real-world benefit?nnCouncil rates go up year after year, yet money is being spent replacing perfectly functional bin lids while many residents are struggling with cost of living pressures.nnThe justification is supposedly “reducing confusion” because different councils use different colours. But changing colours in just one local area does almost nothing to solve that problem statewide. People already know which bin is which from years of use. This feels more like bureaucracy creating unnecessary work than genuine environmental improvement.nnTo make things worse, rubbish bins have been downsized over time, and now if families need a larger bin, they often have to pay extra. So residents are paying higher rates while receiving reduced practical service.nnWhat’s also disappointing is the lack of meaningful consultation. Most residents don’t get a real say — council simply decides, sends out a brochure in the mailbox, and proceeds regardless of public opinion.nnI support recycling and environmental initiatives when they genuinely help the community. But repeatedly changing bin colours while increasing costs feels wasteful, poorly prioritised, and disconnected from what residents actually care about.nnRatepayers deserve:nn* Better transparency on spendingn* Proper public consultation before unnecessary changesn* Focus on essential services instead of cosmetic projectsn* More practical waste solutions rather than constant rebranding exercisesnnResidents should pay attention to where council money is actually going.
Amazing council service! I had my phone dropped in the storm water drain and cannot open the drain at all. This was late at night as well. I called them and within 30 minutes they sent someone over and opened the drain and got the phone for me. They are absolutely amazing and life savers!! Thank you!
If i could give a zero stars i would. trying to pay a fine went on a payment plan. But the knox wants a cerdit card only with a surcharge no direct debit. Why are fines $200
Deeply concerning, I had a fall on a dangerous driveway, trying to avoid a patched up footpath on the 5th May in Rocco Drive Scoresby. I fell heavily on my lower back and my left leg folded under which caused nasty gashes on my knee, and bruised left my elbow. I had emailed the council with photos on the 6th May, showing photos of how the business using that driveway has been damaged by their trucks which I witness trying to navigate the driveway most mornings. I have received feedback from that business saying the responsibility of that driveway belongs to Knox City council.n12th May, that business have tried another patch up job. Which has already been damaged again by trucks.nI have NOT received any correspondence from the council in relation to my fall incident.nI have had medical treatment and advice.
My husband and I had an appointment today at 1pm at the housing department. After parking our car we went for a wonder looking for the office, we were very fortunate to approach a gentleman and a lady.we didn’t know their names but they were very kind enough to go out their way to lead us to the office where we wanted to go.When we got to Susan which is the person we wanted to see! All in all since the first time we went to see the council office regarding Housing, from 2011 until now, can’t be more thankful to all their kind assistance! Thanks again KNOX COUNCIL!nJohn And Beth Cox
