Very small and cosy backpacker. It's basic, but you are warned of that when you book. Only has 3 rooms, so you can be assured it's going to be quiet. It's out of the way a little, but I thought that added to its charm. It was dusty and needing a spring clean and maintaining, but the main points were clean, like bedding, bathroom, kitchen. Again we knew it would be like this when we booked, so didn't mind at all, so it makes it cheaper.

Accommodation is not as clean as others I'd stayed in new zeeland. Also the heating system is kind of tricky and staff really doesn't know how it works. It can get really cold in winter time and it took me like an hour to get the heat pup working wich was annoying. But anyway a good place to stay. Friendly staff and awesome caves to visit.

We stayed in the BBH for one night having spent the afternoon with Kiwi Cave rafting on a glow worm tour. Excellent doesn't come close to describing our experience with them. Everything was spot on from arrival. We would thoroughly recommend booking with them and also staying overnight if needed. Their facilities were great and a nice small, cosy atmosphere which made it feel like we had the place all to ourselves!

Such a nice little hostel AND a great caving tour. These guys are pros and are full of energy who love sharing their job with the tourists and locals alike. If you stay here, you simply must book a caving tour, you won't regret it.
