We were lucky enough to stay at the sublime Rough Track Cabins for two nights in June. Our only regret was that we didn’t book for a longer stay. We will be going again because the location is quiet and breathtaking, the cabins are next level gorgeous with thoughtful attention to detail and comfort, cozy furniture and art lined walls. There are many beautiful mountain walks easily accessible by foot and Blackheath village is a short drive away with some excellent food options. But, if you feel so inclined, staying in with the fire burning, listening to the birds call and taking in the glorious bush views is one of the best options for a lazy afternoon. Hosts Manda and Julie have created something truly wonderful at Rough Track.
We've just enjoyed our second stay at the Rough Track Cabins. Everything about it is magical - from the cosy fire and thoughtful touches, to the tranquil setting on the edge of the canyon. Totally private and serene, it's a slice of paradise close to our hearts. Manda and Julie are wonderful hosts, thoughtful and considerate with excellent local tips and a beautiful approach to caring for the land and their guests. Thank you for having us again, we can't wait to get back to that fireside soon!
We had a 4 night stay at Rough Track Cabins and can highly recommend them for a tranquil getaway.nThe location is stunning - in the Blue Mountains - with the cabins overlooking the Grand Canyon. Close to many great walks for hikers, and surrounded by bush for peace and quiet.nThe land is lovingly cared for, and Manda and Julie tread very lightly on it. That’s inspiring.nI loved the variety of banksias, and the bird life around the cabins.nThe stars at night are stunning with no city lights around you.nThe cabins are tastefully and simply decorated and have everything you need. Julie’s art and textiles adorn the cabins and add to the experience.nnManda and Julie are gracious hosts and Manda greeted us on arrival and showed us around. They had great advice and ideas to help us enjoy the stay.nThe scrap bag of Julie’s fabrics is a great idea for guests to do a little slow stitching in front of the fire, and then add your piece to the curtains if you like.nnThe bed is super comfy, with electric blanket and a very efficient doona.nWe loved it here.nThe fire was especially welcome as we had a cold snap during our stay.nnThanks again Manda and Julie, and hope to see you again someday soon.nJules and Greg.
We’ve just returned from the most spectacular weekend at Julie and Manda’s Rough Track cabin. Such a peaceful, slow and magical place, nestled in the bush, filled with Julie’s collection of art - it felt like staying in the most wild and whimsical gallery. It was a cold, misty and drizzly weekend, which perfectly added to the atmosphere and the slow combustion fire place very effectively filled the cabin with warmth. We stitched from Julie’s stash of cloth and threads, read and lazed in the most comfortable bed and linen sheets and wandered down the rough track to the escarpment in the mist, such a view!nWe feel replenished and calm, can’t wait to stay again. Manda and Julie are such generous and lovely hosts, thank you!nMargaret and Lukasz
OMG!nI booked our Rough Track cabin last minute for my daughter and myself and gotta say rough it ain’t!nCommunication with Amanda our host was great and she welcomed us warmly as well as sharing some useful tips and info re the fireplace and surrounds.nnHaving been a long time admirer of Julie Paterson’s fabrics, it was such a treat to see our cabin filled with beautifully handmade and decorated items incorporating Julie’s fabrics, ceramics and artworks. We were absolutely enthralled the moment we stepped inside.nI was over the moon to be also able to book a time to visit Julie’s awesome studio nearby- attention fabric and soft furnishing lovers - it’s a dangerous place indeed!nnWe loved being located amongst such a plethora of banksias and the short track through the open backyard led to a stunning outlook.nnThank you so much Amanda and Julie!
