Experience the unique feature of the Blue Mountains Observatory's Astro Tour with your own personal astronomer while you stay with us.

At the Blue Mountains Observatory, we also do research work in Minor Planets were done nightly. We discover and analyse properties of asteroids in our Solar System by means of visible light photometry. Published articles based on the research work are listed in the website. Follow up astrometry on Near Earth asteroids, comets. Photometric work variable stars and Supernova post discovery were also part of the routine observational work.

Lovely family accommodation in Leura. Beautiful Australian bush outlook, with an abundance of native bird life. My family stayed here in early April and the only thing i would have liked was a bit more heat from the wood fire to make it a bit cosier as there was a bit of a cold snap when we were staying. We took part in the Observatory tour which was amazing. Arthur and Ben did a fabulous job steering us through the galaxy and we saw some amazing sights, but Neptune and the moon would have to be our favourites. The kids loved it. We missed out on having Dr. Hasen Williams being our astronomer for the evening (which we were really looking forward to going off past reviews) as he was unwell but as said Ben and Arthur did a great job. Would highly recommend this holiday accommodation and observatory tour.
