Booked for one night here at The Avenue, then last minute decided to stay another night. The room was a 10/10 staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. It is situated close to the local supermarkets like Pak n save, New world and all within walking distance! The pool looked amazing however the sun was to hot to even head outside for a swim.nnWould definitely come and stay again next time will get the upstairs room and don't mind climbing a flight of stairs if it gets me a cardio workout in nnThanks again guys!
We were all visiting family and needed last minute accommodation after international flights. We experienced the highest level of customer service over the weekend - the lovely receptionist worked hard to make sure we were able to get to our rooms. The room we stayed in was dated however the prices reflect this. My recommendation to the owners if renovating is to keep the old charm inside the main building - My parents had their wedding reception here in the 80s and it was so amazing to be able to relate to their photos I'll bring my kids over next time!
Room was okay, main light switch didn’t work, bathroom was tiny, no cutlery at all, no lift so had to drag suitcases up a staircase, if you come back after 7 you have to enter via a dingy back staircase behind a liquor store next door. Doors have gaps on all sides so super noisy and the smell of marijauana wafted through our room every night, I wouldn’t stay here again it was old and dated and not worth the money, the receptionist was lovely though
Like my review! We had a quick overnight stay at The Avenue Hotel in Whanganui, New Zealand as part of our roadtrip towards Wellington. The hotel met our expectations and we had no issues during our stay upon looking at the previous reviews. As the previous reviews shared that the place is a bit worn down, the room was overall clean, checkin staff was friendly and smooth, bed and pillows were comfortable, bathroom was refreshing with toiletries e.g. shampoo, conditioner, soap, fridge was convenient, internet was optimal for email and reading, several outlets, and offerings for use with a provided kettle e.g. instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate, spoon, cups, glasses was helpful to start the morning or end an evening. Although you may need to drive to a very cute and spacious downtown, the hotel was nearby several grocery stores, had free parking, and was in a quaint neighborhood. Please note that the hotel does lock up in the evening to maintain the safety of the guests requiring physical key access from the back of the hotel. They also offer on-site self-serve laundry service $5 washer, $5 dryer, and extra for detergent and in-room ironing board or hair dryer. We had no issues with checkout and the staff was very helpful as we left to our next journey! Overall, we would definitely consider staying here again especially for an overnight thanks to the great value and would recommend to our friends and family.
Situated at a very convenient location in Wanganui with ample parking. Very friendly and helpful staff.nMy wife lost her gold necklace there and the staff found it and sent it to us via courier.nWill definitely visit again.
