I used to go to Kimberley and it sucks. The teachers treat my 10 year old brother with ADHD terribly. They claim to be a school open and helpful to all kids including kids with ADHD, autism etc. However they almost didn’t let him go on an excursion just because he’s different, they even called my little brother dangerous when he’s the sweetest thing ever. He’s had breakdowns and instead of helping, they get mad and call my parents complaining and blowing up my parents even though they know he’s different and were aware of this prior to him attending there. They haven’t accepted MULTIPLE kids with learning disabilities just because they are different. Actually disgusting. On top of of that I had another WHITE student call me racial slurs n throw bananas at me, i wrote a full report only for nothing to happen to the boy. Ms parkinson the deputy principal also did nothing and let the incident slide for weeks. She also claimed that it was not her business and left another teacher to handle it. She calls out coloured kids and picks on us all. I moved to public school and best decision of my life. Kind of sad that a public school is so much better then a school the claims to only want the best for all students attending and claims to be inclusive. Kimberley is a joke. You will never see me sending my kids there. This school is packed with racism, unprofessional, racist and ableist staff and students. To people reading think twice before sending your kids here. My friend left the school but her mum was forced into paying otherwise the school would send a form of intimidation over to their house with a single mother and two daughters. I am fed up with this appalling school getting away with everything they do. To add another thing they let bullying happen and give the bullies no punishment what so ever. but when a student is caught with a phone at break or with a phone in their bag they could get a possible suspension. Kimberley is an embarrassment to all Australian schools.
Apparently they are a good school for kids with disabilities yet haven’t accepted multiple children I know into the school because of their learning disabilities. Principal and deputies are not supportive to any of the kids at all. The school is such a joke. Apparently has a good anti bullying system, yet my sister was racially abused and made fun of and they gave the kid a slap on the wrist and acted like nothing happened. Miss Parkinson is a joke and doesn’t hear the kids side of the story at all. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS HERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO GET VERY LIMITED EDUCATION.
Had an extremely positive and wholesome community. When I first entered this school, I had extreme social anxiety to where I almost couldn't attend school in general. In was extremely frightened by the thought of attending a new school, however Kimberley College was quick to get rid of thought and flood my mind with excitement every morning I woke up and every night I slept. The friends I made at Kimberley are extremely positive and always bring the most of me. This school and their community brought me from a lifeless husk swaying in the wind like a tumbleweed, to a person who enjoys things that the old me would never imagine, such as hanging out with my friends, communicating with others, and overall improvement in many areas. When I first attended Kimberley College I didn't pay much attend if at all to the extremely complex education system, but through help with the school we made a well-thought plan that took my interests and my life into account that helped me catch up when I was very behind without working me to the bone. I am very happy to have attended this school as it has helped me both academically, and through ways that no one else could have taught me. Thank you once more Kimberley College. <3
This is an amazing school. It teaches kids critical thinking and has a bespoke curriculum that actually relates to life! The students are kind and caring. The teachers go above and beyond. Kids have the same teachers for 3 years which means the teachers really get to understand each child's individual learning style and a great bond is formed. Multi age classrooms creates opportunities for mentoring. The younger kids look up to the older ones and the older ones love being role models. My son is very very happy at this school and I would highly recommend it.
My daughter will begin this term and my son is enrolled for next year, so I can only comment on the process of enrolment at this point. I am impressed at the willingness of the staff member in the office and the principle to listen, answer questions and give helpful, reassuring responses. Having had interactions with office staff at different schools that treat basic enquiries as an inconvenience, I was so impressed. The culture of respect and acceptance obviously begins from the top down which is so very important. Well done KC. Updated - My kids have now been at KC for over a year. I wish I had found this school years earlier. Every teacher they have had contact with has been a passionate educator who takes their impact on young people seriously. The top down ethos of respect, personal responsibility, teamwork and compassion makes the whole school a welcoming and safe environment. It was so amazing to see the relationships between the teachers and the graduating year 12s at the end of the year. It was all so genuine. The classwork is engaging and interesting, including practical skills. They have lots of creative and sport opportunities and extra activities like debating and different competitions. The school is constantly looking for ways to acknowledge the strengths of students in every field and are always encouraging the kids to give things a go. The beautiful natural surroundings just adds to the comfortable feel of this school. My kids are thriving and I highly recommend taking a look at Kimberley College.
We have just joined this amazing school this year. So far our two kids in primary school have so much to talk about on the way home from school each day, which is a big change from their last school. The kids are loving their new peers and teachers. The grounds are always kept very tidy and the students are all well presented and set a great example. The sign up process was very straight forward. The staff are amazing and looking forward to many happy years ahead.
I had the same experience as Katrina McKenzie. Paid the $100 enrolment fee to be told we can't help you child has autism and they only accept a very small amount lf children with additional needs they suggested I try Calvery. I feel this is how they make money for the school, a refund should be offered for these circumstances it's discrimination!!
DO NOT TRY TO SEND YOUR KIDS HERE IF THEY HAVE SENSORY ISSUES OR AUTISM! I recently was looking for a school for my son did the enrolment paid the $100 fee only to find out they won’t take him because they can’t make “adjustments in the classroom”! This kids in mainstream school already, he has therapy’s to help him with his sensory issues, but Kimberly college wouldn’t even consider him because of his disabilities. Absolutely disgusting for a school who says they are diverse to do this to anyone. Extremely angry and disappointed that people are still discriminating against people with disabilities. I’m glad the school showed me it’s true colours before we got any further, just because it’s an “affordable school” doesn’t mean anyone should be discriminated against for any reason.. do better!
We changed from a public school to Kimberley College and found that the experience has been beneficial to our child’s needs. The teachers along with the principles have worked with us not against us to support when our child has needed this. We have enjoyed consistency of the teachers. French lesson have only just started but are very much enjoyed and talked about at home.
My children enjoy going to Kimberley College and all it has to offer, providing an education that has enhanced their grades and overall well-being.
