This school is the best, the amounts of opportunities given are outstanding! My son loved this school, he recently graduated happy as a bee with a career path that he was interested in. I'm so proud of my little boy, this school is an honest 5 stars. My son has never had an issue here and I bet that's the same for many other children.
Do not take your children to this school if you want them to be happy. All this school cares about is their reputation and their uniform. The teachers could care more, but they don’t unless your rugby players. The people there are terrible and rash. It’s a big school and they’ll give you detention for being late.
Navigating my educational journey at Marsden State High School, I have concerns that have collectively shaped an environment occasionally more reminiscent of a prison than a nurturing educational institution. While my personal experience has been passable, the school's landscape is marred by significant issues that merit an in-depth examination. The educational programs, while generally meeting basic standards, reveal an evident gap in fostering comprehensive student development within general classes. The colossal size of the student body, with the school boasting the title of the largest in the region, poses inherent challenges. The sheer volume of students often overwhelms educators, resulting in a tumultuous environment that impedes smooth transitions between classes, ultimately detracting from the optimal learning atmosphere. The persistent commotion during lunch breaks, compounded by students, creates a formidable obstacle to concentrated thought. While undoubtedly there are amiable students, a significant faction falls into the 'eshay' category, causing disruptions for those earnestly striving to focus on their academic pursuits. The harmonious coexistence of students and the conducive atmosphere for learning seem to be overshadowed by the chaos that ensues during breaks and transitions. The state of MSHS bathroom facilities is another pressing concern. Serving a student population of 3500, these facilities have seen minimal updates since the 1990s, resulting in an environment conducive to disruptive behaviours such as vaping and recreational drug use. This not only renders the bathrooms inhospitable but also obstructs access, creating discomfort for students needing to change for HPE classes. The reluctance to modernize these spaces creates an environment where basic hygiene becomes a challenge, impacting the overall well-being of the student body. The issue of student culture extends beyond mere disruptions to outright vandalism, with students defacing new buildings and bathrooms. The aftermath, including broken locks, damaged toilets, and sinks, renders some facilities unusable, fostering a palpable sense of unease and invasion during bathroom use. The fear of encountering vandalism or inappropriate behaviour further compounds the challenges students face in maintaining a sense of security within the school premises. In tandem with these physical challenges, the school's enforcement of stringent policies has led to some unintended consequences. The recent implementation of a phone ban for students, while potentially part of a nationwide effort, has encountered resistance. Restricting phone use even before school on the grounds seems excessively rigid. The ban on listening to music, a potentially constructive coping mechanism for students navigating what some perceive as a challenging environment, further limits sources of focus and enjoyment. There is a growing apprehension that the new rules may incite rebellion. Reports of incidents ranging from physical altercations and sexual assault to inappropriate language, bullying, racism, sexism, and general profanity have become unsettlingly frequent from last year until the present, indicative of an alarming trend. Looking beyond these immediate concerns, it is essential to recognize that an educational institution should be a haven for growth, learning, and personal development. Further concerns, beyond the scope of this discussion, will be addressed at a later date. While the school does provide a satisfactory educational foundation, the overarching community atmosphere and apparent lack of common sense contribute significantly to a challenging learning environment. Effectively addressing these concerns is imperative for fostering an environment conducive to both academic and personal growth. By addressing the physical, social, and policy-related challenges, the school can create an atmosphere that truly nurtures the holistic development of its student body, fostering a sense of belonging and motivation to excel academically.
The school teaching staff are crazy . The principal can’t handle his job. Kids are not supervised correctly. Discrimination the principal thinks is ok. It’s a shameful school full of violence , kids selling drugs in toilets or they get assaulted in toilets . Principal can’t handle his job. He is a failure. It’s about Time he retires he too old to be in this position. He can’t handle the children
If you're not in an excellence they could care less about you unless you do something that "ruins their reputation". Too crowded and careless.
The school was amazing it made my day
ex bf went here. walking red flag. never date a guy from here
i saw 30 kids walk into the bathroom, either fun time, weed or vaping, i only wanted to be part of one of those
I went to this school 3 times to purchase tickets for a concert. The first time the payment office was closed which is understandable. However the other 2 times, the payment office was either out to lunch or simply did not respond. I asked for 2 tickets the be held seeing as they were busy with lunch and would return the next day to purchase them. When I went in the next day to purchase them, I was informed they were sold out and when I mentioned that I asked them to hold some, I was told there was no note and they are now sold out Thank you for causing me to miss this event that I was asked to attend by a young friend
I'm on the 550 to Browns Plains and there are a few Marsden State students on the bus. The driver has stopped outside the school and every single one of those students thanked the bus driver as they exited the bus. Amazing students and it made my day. Well done!
