A camping ground to relax in. Beware Kawhia's laid back ambiance is easy to get caught up in.

Kawhia Camping Ground is a quiet camp that is in a sheltered position. A short walk along the Pohutukawa lined coast to town and around the corner from the harbour and boat ramp.

Ocean Beach where the Te Puia Hot Springs seep through the black sands are just up the road. Free shovels are provided to guests for digging your own hot pool right on the edge of a rugged but scenic west coast beach.

The camp has plenty of play equipment to keep the children busy while parents can relax in the shade of the trees. Overseas and Kiwi travellers are also very welcome - we pride ourselves in not only making your stay enjoyable but helping you to plan your sightseeing for the next stage of your journey.

We have power sites, cabins and provide full facilities including free Wifi, showers, BBQ, fish cleaning area and smoker, disability and baby changing room. Also outdoor movie screenings during the holiday period!

Nice well cared for compact camping ground. Set one street back from beach it is protected from wind but only a short walk away. Free wifi. Clean & tidy. Grant was very helpful. Recommend.
Kawhia Camping Ground were absolutely amazing, very quiet, campgrounds were lovely. The amenities were fantastic. Really family orientated. Thank you to the owners for the information on where to go for different walks around Kawhia, other beach areas to visited.

The eel was an amazing site in the reception/office. I assume the owner was absolutely lovely and so very knowledgable and very friendly. Extremely busy campground - pretty much every area was full. Nice to see and hear everyone happy with no forcing of masks. Cabin - well really the couch has seen better days but as a whole a nice place to stay. Kawhia was beautiful and bonus use of boggie boards and spades for the hot beach.
Great spot, clean and tidy facilities. Great to have a filleting station and bait freezer on site. The owner was very friendly and even fixed our broken air pump and pointed us in the direction of so local fishing spots.Service: 5/5

Nice clean camp ground. The care taker , was very knowledgeable. Very pleasant. Definitely will stay again and recommend this camp site.
Spent 1 night at the Kawhia campground as we had a fishing charter booked for early Saturday morning, what fantastic accomodation! Lovely friendly helpful owner Grant service with a smile! Clean & tidy, everything we needed + we got the cabin close to the bathroom & kitchen a bonus Thank you so much for having us! We will be back.
